I'd like some reviews of mattresses, real mattress, not the air mattresses (Select Comfort/Sleep Number) or the Tempurpedic (memory foam).  I've been looking for two days, Sealy Posturpedic, Serta, Stearns and Foster.  I prefer pretty firm with a plush not pillow top.  It seems even the best beds and start getting sags even after three years, but the bed places are telling me most mattresses start to give out noticeably after six years, even though they have ten-year warranties.  Stearns and Foster feels the best, but are really pricey and I found several comments online that they break down sooner than some Sealy Posturpedics so why spend the extra money?  Consumer Reporters rates Simmons BeautyRest higher than Sealy, Serta and Stearns.  I'd appreciate any feedback or experiences.

Thanks!

That's the bad part because they are super expensive and you really don't know if you are going to like the bed till you actually sleep on it.  By then, you have already bought it and are stuck.

My Tempurpedic was $3200 and I think that is on the cheaper side from what I understand.  So frustrating.  I hope it gets better for you.

Kelli,

It's a 10 percent restocking fee to exchange it, plus delivery charge, which is worth it if I really don't like it.

Apparently they hardly make any decent mattress anymore without some amount of that memory foam in the topping.

Too bad it makes you feel like you are having hot flashes.  Hate that!!

I was looking on line at foam mattress toppers for my daughter's bed because she says it's not very comfortable.  One of the sites said if your memory foam is too hot, put a wool blanket on top of the memory foam and under a mattress pad. During the summer, it's certainly worth trying.

Thanks for the idea!  I got some different sheets and that helps.

Now I really like the bed after four nights on it.  It's just the first time I didn't love a new bed the first night.

Took some getting used to.

I want to get those half cotton/half bamboo sheets next.  My massage therapist has some and they are wonderful to lay on.

I have never heard of bamboo sheets.  Sounds interesting.
