Report-It quality?

I just got the ReportIt today.  I am sending it back.  It is put together crooked and the fabric is bent on the foot cushions.  I think it's a great ergonomic idea, but feel that it is pretty junky for the price, $150.  Maybe the person assembling the one I got was having a bad day.  Would appreciate feedback from those who own it.

Kerry, maybe you should ask for a replacement first before deciding not to use it at all.  The ones I've seen don't look like junky to me.  Maybe you just got a bad one.

I ordered one once and returned it.  I didn't like that it was bulky, at least to me.

I don't think it's all that bulky, but sure is put together poorly and except for the innovation/idea, certainly overpriced.  I think one could accomplish the same thing with the right pillow or foam. I especially don't like the foot risers..........just cheap foam that I can't even see a use for.

Does anybody have any good suggestions for dealing with somewhat bad chairs and your back?  I think I'm going to start bring something to my depos because I'm finding these chairs to be just too uncomfortable and I end up with an aching back.

I'm also wondering if it has something to do with the position of my writer and my tripod.  My tilting tripod broke yesterday (been in this business 30 years and I've never had a tripod break before) and am now in the market for a replacement.  Wondering if the ones Stenograph sells for about $140 is worth it, or just use a regular tripod and use the adapter for $50 (hopefully this links come through).

I like the tilting tripod that Corby group sells.  One of the legs actually tilts at whatever angle you want, instead of tilting the writer on the top head like Stenograph's works. 

Also, I carry a folding card table chair in my trunk.  Love it!  I'm short and if can't get a decent chair to use at a law office, then I do get my chair if the job is half a day or longer.  It seems I'm not the only reporter who has "brought their own chair" to jobs, I've recently learned from some lawyers.  The chairs they're making today in conference rooms are certainly less reporter posture friendly.

That's the one that I have that broke.  The tightening/loosening screw that you use to make it taller/shorter stripped and it's stuck in the position where it was comfortable for that chair, if you get my drift.  I can't even close it it to put it back in my case.

If you find a man with the right professional tools, he can get the screw out.  (My brother-in-law does things like that for me).  Or you can drill the screw out.  (Use a drill big that is smaller than the screw).  Then replace the screw.

I've thought about that.  I have an attachment for my drill (doesn't have to be a man that owns this equipment) that's supposed to take stripped screws out, but it doesn't work like I think it should work.  Just breaks the head off so you can never get the dang thing out. 

I'm not sure who would be able to work on this thing.  Certainly not a TV repairman, appliance repairman, sewing machine repairman, or shoe repairman.  Construction tradesmen, yes, but they don't generally have shops that I can walk into and hand them my tripod. 

I have a washer/dryer guy showing up this week (word of advice:  NEVER purchase an "all in one" washer/dryer unit made by LG), maybe he can do something with it.
