Wow,  can court reporters be proud of our Irish court reporter Irene Horgan who along with her sister Attorney Maureen Horgan run The Horgan Academy of Irish Dance and the Maura Gill Horgan Irish Centre in Naugatuck, Connecticut.

Irene is the official court reporter for the Connecticut Superior Court Judicial District of New Britain and in charge of all the court reporters in that district.

Irene and her sister Attorney Maureen Horgan are continuing  the promulgation of Irish dancing and branching out into teaching the ancient Irish Language with free lessons at their Maura Gill Horgan Irish Centre in Naugatuck, Connecticut.

Irene’s  and Maureen’s mother Maura Gill Horgan immigrated from Ireland and founded the Horgan Academy of Irish Dance in Naugatuck, Connecticut.

Attorney Maureen Horgan used to be in charge of all court reporters in the Connecticut Superior Court.

At the present time Irene and Maureen are training world class Irish dancers to compete in the world championship  of  Irish dancing.  One of her students just placed 2nd in Irish dancing contest  for New England.  Several other of Irene’s students also placed very high in the New England Irish Dance contest.

Irene is an accomplished Irish dancer and was on stage leading her student dancers at the Horgan Academy of Irish Dance Extravaganza which took place on Sunday, March 18th at the theater of the Swift Middle School in Oakville, Connecticut where several hundred people enjoyed two hours of Irish dancing by the dancers from the Horgan Academy of Irish Dance.

During the weeks preceding  St. Patrick’s Day Irene and Maureen and their  Irish dancers appeared on both major Connecticut TV stations for live performances.  Irene’s dancers also appeared at several other St. Patrick’s day events in Connecticut.

Also, one of the alumnae of the Horgan Academy of Irish Dance recently won the Miss Greater Waterbury Pageant and will be competing in the Miss Connecticut Pageant and hopefully the Miss USA Pageant.

Miss Greater Waterbury studied Irish dance at the Horgan Academy of Irish Dance for ten years and won the talent portion of the Miss Greater Waterbury Pageant with her Irish dancing talent.

All court reporters can be proud of the wonderful work being done by  Irene Horgan and Maureen Horgan to preserve the Irish heritage, and we can be very proud of Maureen’s and Irene’s connection to the court reporting community.

I was privileged to attend the Horgan Academy of Irish Dance Extravaganza today and to enjoy two hours of some of  the finest Irish dancing in the United States with great dancing by world champion quality dancers and great Irish dancing by all the aspiring students.
