Has anyone done work for either National Scopist Services of America or Ascopist4u and not gotten paid? Or even if you have worked for them and gotten paid, I'd like to know. Thanks.

Interesting. Maybe her ears were burning. Hopefully it was due to court reporters being slow to pay and they're starting to pay now, which means we'll get paid!
I have been working for Bonnie for probably 7 or 8 years. This last year has been extremely bad for her. I never had a problem until last October. We actually considered partnering at one point...I hate to say that this has tore our professional and friendly relationship to shreds. I'm not going to be so unprofessional and go into the detail of all that's happened, but let's just say she's struggling and I no longer accept work from her. I know that she never intentionally meant to hurt anyone. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at scoping_station@cox.net.
I'm glad to hear there's several people having the same experience with NSSA. I was told in November that I would be paid off in December, haven't heard from anyone since then. The few times that I tried to get some sort of ETA on a check, I felt like I was being annoying so I stopped pestering her. She seems very nice and I did get quite a bit of work from her over the summer, I hope when her problems clear up she's back and running again. Although I'm a bit skeptical to do work again for her. Is anyone else?
I've been screwed over by two reporters in the last year and one has been talking badly about me because of her failure to pay on time. Or her wording would be, she's mad at me because of my failure to do work for free because she's having money issues. Has anyone else seen a decrease in payments anywhere else? Sometimes I'm too nice and wonder if that type of reporter thinks they can take advantage of me.
I have heard from other people that have worked for NSSA who said the same thing, that they got paid fine until this fall. Since I started in the fall, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I get paid for my work. I got tons of job offers in the beginning, but then it all stopped. Another company is also saying how slow they are and that the reporters aren't paying because they say the attorneys aren't paying them. It's all trickling down. I'll put a post up if I get paid in February.
I have a cousin who's a reporter, so I called her to find a scopist to network with. She said she got a lot of work from NSSA but said they were slow to pay, as much as 3 months late in some cases. So maybe you will yet be paid. I look forward to the post when you get paid in February.
Well, it's good to know people do get paid, even if it's late. Would love to work for just one reporter. Apparently they're hard to come by : ) I'll keep you posted.
hey everyone:

hope everyone else is getting a little something too!!

That's good to hear. I just didn't know anything about this company, so it was so good to hear from everybody. It really put my mind at ease.
Appreciate you checking.
Hi Sandra,

I'm a little late in replying to your post but I have worked for NSSA. They are slow to pay, but I've never not been paid when I do work for them. I know they have had some financial problems in the past, but the administrator of the program always emails me if there's a particular problem that will delay payment.

Has anybody who is owed money by NSSA gotten paid or received a partial payment yet? I received an e-mail from Bonnie about six weeks or so ago saying that she was going to start paying me a small amount weekly until I'm paid in full. I received one very small payment, and that's it. I've asked repeatedly for receipts for the work performed, and I've not received any. My e-mails are going unanswered. If it were a small amount I wouldn't pursue it as I don't think it would be worth it, but it's not an insignificant amount of money, especially with tax time right around the corner. I'm thinking the only way to see this money is to pursue through collections.

Anybody having better luck?
I rec'd a small payment last week after a few emails to her. She's seems very nice and more than happy to pay when she can, but my situation is like yours and it's not an insignificant amount of money. Several of my emails also have gone unanswered, I also requested probably six or seven receipts and only have, I think, two. I have an idea how much she owes me, but not an exact number because those receipts were never sent to me when I did the work, but several months later after requesting them.
I feel bad for their situation, but I also fell on hard scoping times for awhile and really do need the money while waiting for recent busy times to pay.
