Okay. I know that's a rude title, but I just couldn't help myself.

So I have this hearing where the judge asks the defendant a question, and an overzealous relative/spectator yells out yes. I never found out who that was.

Should I just label them unknown speaker? Or should I hunt them down by some means?

That's what I would do, UNIDENTIFIED SPEAKER. Or if you know it's grandmother or grandfather, for example, I might indicate something like: PATERNAL GRANDMOTHER:

I have speaker ID's for MALE FROM AUDIENCE: and
FEMALE FROM AUDIENCE:
then I don't have to worry about whose side they're on or
what relation, if any, they have to the case.
even attys who speak from the gallery without
announcing their appearance on the
record get this speaker ID if I don't know who they are.
