Hello everyone! Right now i am at 190 in Q and A and i was wondering if there is any kind of work i could do at home at this speed? I would like to do some type of work now so that i can at least purchase a writer.

Thanks

Kwanna, My recommendation is to do nothing but practice with the goal of passing the RPR. That is the basic qualifying exam and the minimum speed required to not be blown away out in the world of deps and court. Once you have the RPR and/or any state's CSR, then you are ready to call yourself a court reporter and have some degree of confidence. You don't want to get blown away on your first, second, or any job!

Hi Marge and thanks for your comment. I am not looking to do court reporting work right now. NO WAY!!!. I was thinking about transcription work or something to that nature. I wish i could just focus on just practicing, but my bills are piling up and i have to do something. I start my internship the end of this month, and i don't even have a student writer, that's bad. At least if i could do some work part-time, i would be able to save some money for a writer and it would help with my finances.
Kwanna, what are you doing for a writer now? I sympathize with the bills. I went to court reporting entirely at night while I worked full-time as a high school teacher, so I didn't have agita over bills. I was making a living. I can't think of anything you can do at home. You might have to get any old job to make ends meet until you are ready to start working as a court reporter. Bills do have to be paid. No question about it. Good luck figuring it all out.
