I am having such a hard time with concentration. I am in 160's and cannot seem to get a grip on concentrating. I seem to be able to get a chunk of dictation and then I guess when I realize I'm getting it, I lose it. Also, I get so distracted if I hear someone messing with their paper or opening the door or pounding on their keys too hard. My teacher said I need to work on my concentration but that she didn't know how to tell me to fix it. Has anyone else had this problem and how do you fix it. I'v heard about "the zone" but how do you get there? How do you just hear the words coming at you and ignore the noise around you? I would appreciate ANY advice.

We all go through this, so don't worry. You might want to try drilling material from
The Brief Zone website. We've had many happy customers.....www.thebriefzone.com
Thanks for the website. I'll definitely check it out.
What speed are you practicing at??

Whatever it is, pump it up. Don't try to write perfect. Try to get something down for every word or phrase. If you can write clean at a certain speed, whatever that is, I believe you will never "shatter" your notes doing this type of practicing. You don't want perfect writing, ten-word drop, perfect writing, ten-word drop.

Break the old hand speed.

I personally believe speed cures all ailments. I've never practiced a finger drill (or any other drill) in my entire CR life (since 1978 now), and I was lucky enough to pass a 280 wpm test this past year, so I've proven it works for me.

Happy Writing Short!!
Wow!! Never heard of this one. I'm definitely going to give it a try. I do the "bottom-up" writing, also. I'll let you know how it goes. Thank you soo much.
Unfortunatly I haven't tried it yet. My dad has been in the hospital but plan on starting on it today. Can't wait to try it. I also need to work on my stamina. What are you doing for that?
Hi,

I finally just listened to my teachers. You know how they say to stare at a spot on the floor. Well, that is how you do it. Just stare at that spot and just write your heart out. I have had so many problems with watching them, or my hands. Then I finally just kind of zoned out on that spot. I have passed three timings, and almost passed another one last week. I missed it by three errors.
