    Lorrie:
Yeah, maybe next time! No biggie. But we're glad to have contacts up there, because as it turns out we have a few clients that take Nor Cal depos, so it'll come in handy. By the way, I'd love to send you one of our reporter packets so we have all your info. and you have our cards, ready to go on any depos in the future. Can you e-mail me your address so we can send you one? stephanie.leslie@regalcourtreporting.com. Thx!
  • Stephanie Leslie

    Thx!
  • Tracy Perry

Is Mojo your bebe? I need to put a pic up of my real cat. I swear, I think it's a prerequisite to become a reporter...you must be a cat lover! Ha!
  • Kyung

You're welcome. Glad you got it.
  • Nancy Wallace

    Hi Lorrie
Your kids are soooooo cute. Nice looking family. We love our adventure vacations. We try and hit a new state each year and do some local stuff throughout the year. We don't have any kids right now, but we're hoping soon though. So..... are you telling me no more adventures when the kiddos come? Oh, no..... LOL!!!
Do you report full time with your kids?
  • peter

OH. MY. GOSH. It is me!!!!!!!!!!!!! and it is YOU!!!!!!!!! How awesome. Yes, I remember VERY VERY WELL!!!!

I'm getting ready to start a job (I'm captioning now) so I'll get back with you on how to achieve flowery goodness!!! This display pic is from the bungee jumping tower! The one they took right before I hurled myself off of it. WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Lorrie L. Marchant

Cool!!! And that is even so much funnier that the photo is from the bungy-jump tower! What a roit! I don't even know where my photos are. I know where my video is, though. This is so incredibly awesome to be able to hook up with you again! I see that you're utilizing Eclipse software now. So am I. :)
Hey, have you tried skydiving? I did two back to back tandem skydives on July 5, 1999. Wow! What a rush! So, so, so much fun! Oddly enought, maybe because I was strapped to a georgeous tandem master, I was not nearly as petrified as I was bungy jumping!
I'm so excited to have reconnected with you!
  • Brenda Rogers

Hi, Lorrie. The LS takes a while to get used to. Notes are messy at first and it takes a while to get to a decent untran rate.

I wish I could see what I'm answering here. One drawback of this format. I'm going to open another browser so I can see you question. Just a sec.

Okay. What happened when it quit working? Did she get a Windows had to close an unresponsive program message? I've had that happen but it starts right back up.

Oh!oh!oh! I have had it where it wouldn't do anything before (but now while I was using it), wouldn't respond to keystrokes. Have her check all her key settings. I've had two or three instances where one of the keys just resets itself to -2 or -1 -- any negative number and none of the keys will respond.

Let me know if that helps. If not, get ahold of Stenovations. Try to talk to John or Corey. Avery has never been very helpful to me; avoid him! Good luck!
  • Lorrie L. Marchant

Thanks so much! I'll pass on the information and keep you updated.
    :)
  • Jill S. Driscoll

Hey, all my msgs from CSRNation have been going to my spam folder!! aargh! I just saw you left me a msg. Congrats on your flowery page!
  • Jill S. Driscoll

I went to the StenoCAT meeting in San Fran just this past Feb. I want to come to Anaheim this summer. I can't commit until I see how rich I can become between now and then. :P
  • Linda Pugliese

    Hi Lorrie,
Nice to see your picture. Hopefully we'll get more depos from Griswold. I met them at Todd's office this week. Thanks for your good work and PR. They sang your praises. I got Todd to use Bridge and the refresh is awesome! You have to try it if you haven't already.
    Linda

    Hi Lorrie: )
We passed the same CSR test!
    Robert
  • Lorrie L. Marchant

Really?! How interesting! And we're still at it! Have you been busy with work? It's been really funky for me thus far this year. The volume and caliber of work just hasn't been there like I am used to.
Are you a member of the Deposition Reporters Association?
Hope to run into you sometime soon!
    :)
  • Kyung

    Hi,

    Hope you're doing well.

I just wanted to let you know that I have been using the transcriber for my videotaped depositions and it has been working wel.. In fact, on this last job, my realtime froze and stopped writing, but since it was videotaped, I kept writing. I ended up re-translating the notes from the floppy disk and using the videographer's tape backup to produce that part. Thank goodness.

I'm very happy I bought it from you.

    Thanks,
    Kyung
  • Kim Schroeder

I did it! You are right. This is like myspace! Corrie is going to kill me when she finds out!
  • Kim Schroeder

cause I always chastise her for myspace! It's nice to know she can help navigate around though! Love your Seal song. I think I'll just stay here on your page a minute so I can rock out!
  • Lorrie L. Marchant

Oh, I see. I have a myspace site, but I have trouble customizing it. I find it so frustrating!
    :)
  • Kristi Caruthers

And I love yours as well! Your daughters are darling! I was excited to see you on here. What a fantastic site!!
  • Lorrie L. Marchant

    :)
I have a daughter, Sophia, who is 5-1/2, and a son, Cooper, who will be 3 on Sunday. The other girl that you see in the photos with my two blondies is their cousin, Emily.
I agree that this is a great site!
    Glad you're my friend!
  • Jenny Griffin, RMR CRR CCRR CRC

Hi, Lorrie! I hope your son is well by now, and you haven't been working too hard! I'm still tweaking my LS, but I'm not giving up! Contact me when you get a chance. I see you've left some comments on your page instead of hitting "comment back." I just did it yesterday myself, and I can't delete it as my HP went into the shop today and my old Dell doesn't show the background or the red x! Oh, well, we all do it!
  • Jenny Griffin, RMR CRR CCRR CRC

Lorrie, it's just as I feared - you're working way too hard! No pressure for experimenting with that pesky LS - whenever you get some down time. Does that even exist for a mom of two cuties like yours? Yes, my mom's yard is so pretty - and so are your pictures! Take it easy - Jenny
  • Jenny Griffin, RMR CRR CCRR CRC

Can you relate a bit to my computer station? That's how it looked when I first got Eclipse and was working on my dictionary. That was my new Dell laptop - my first laptop ever! I'm typing on it right now as my HP's wireless broke and it's in the shop (Fry's). And while I didn't eat all the food my mom had laid out for me, I did eat EVERY cookie in that bowl!!!
  • Kristi Caruthers

    Hi, Lori:

Do you know that we passed the same test in May '94? It was in SF, right? My number is 10560.

    Hope you're doing well.

    Kristi : )
  • Kristi Caruthers

Oops! I meant "Lorrie." Too early in the a.m.
  • Lorrie L. Marchant

    Sure enough! Yes, in S.F.
It's a hazy memory for me.
I hope that you're doing well too! I've been sooo unmotivated lately!
  • Patricia Babits

    Hi,
Just thought I'd say Hi since I live in Cotati.
What school did you go to? Cute kids!
  • Patricia Babits

I started out working for Ken Combs in the city my first couple of years. I also did local stuff for Compex out of Southern California. After I had my second kid, I took a lot of time off, and I kind of lost my place with them. I'm doing overflow for a bunch of firms now. I hate it! The only local one is West Coast Reporters in San Rafael. I haven't heard too much good stuff about local firms, so I've been scared to call them.
    Who do work for?

Oh, I'm not technologically advanced enough to put a picture up! Maybe I'll ask my husband.
  • Lorrie L. Marchant

I just think it's so funny! I never watch the late shows. But I found this clip somewhere and it just cracks me up so bad!
  • Lorrie L. Marchant

okay. i'll watch it, even though i'm woefully late on producing one of my own transcripts. I just HATE production! HATE, HATE, HATE it. It's too hard to do with little kiddos!
do you have the youtube link?
do you have Yahoo IM? it's so much easier than this method!
  • Lorrie L. Marchant

I love CSR Nation, but for these quick exchanges an IM is so much easier.
  • Marcie L. Conn

    Hi, Lorrie,

What court reporting program are you on? I'm on StenoCat 32. If you have that program, I use the Comments feature to put in the comments. If not, I'd have to do an errata sheet and either scan and e-mail or fax that.

I feel I'm very qualified as a proofreader and also as a scopist. I've been a court reporter since 1999. Before that I worked as a scopist and proofreader from probably another 15 years. Oh, yeah, I do print out the transcript to read it. I don't read it from the screen..

    My rates for scoping is:

    Normal (5-7 days) $1.00/pg
    4-Day $1.15/pg
    3-Day $1.30/pg
    2-Day $1.50/pg
    Next Day $1.75/pg
    Same Day $2.00/pg

Add $.15 per page for each:
    Video
    Medical
    Expert
    Interpreter
    Lots of typing

    My rates for proofing is:

    Normal (3-5 days): 35 cents
    4-day: 40 cents
    2-3 day: 45 cents
    same day: 50 cents.

Since I am a reporter also, I would need for you to check with me before sending anything to make sure I am available. Recently I have been able to pick up extra work. Also, I generally have super fast turnaround. Since I'm a reporter, I know I have to stay on top of my work and other's work or else it just doesn't work out.

The best way to contact me is by e-mail, which is marcsr11974@suddenlink.net. I'm usually on here most all the time.

    Thanks for the inquire!

    Marcie

Lorrie, How are you doing these days? I'm keeping the LS as my time is up on the 15th. I'm not thrilled with it, but I'm hoping they fix that Oct. update soon. What's your LS status? Work here is beyond slow! Hope you're keeping busy - busy with work - I know you're always busy with your cute family!
  • Jenny Griffin, RMR CRR CCRR CRC

Ah, I was in the middle of downloading the latest version of Bridge as I've got to force myself to START doing some realtime. Linda Pugliese has been kind enough to agree to see me next week to give me a quick refresher realtime course. I also will have her try out my LS with the new leather depobook keypads to see how she likes them. Also she'll be writing to my Oct. update. I went back to my Stentura for a depo a few weeks ago as I needed to tweak my config after updating. It was really horrid. I felt like I was pressing down a mile! Have you been reading the depoman LS folder lately? There's a new server now that's so much better. http://www.depoman.com/forum/
  • Jenny Griffin, RMR CRR CCRR CRC

Lorrie, Great news regarding the LS. The December update really works! If you think you have time to fool with the LS again, I'll be around today if you have questions. Just call or email me.
  • Jenny Griffin, RMR CRR CCRR CRC

Lorrie, I'm so glad you're making the time to update during the holidays. I think you'll be happy with this one. Make sure you read my depoman post about the easier way to fine tune your config. I know it seems outrageously complicated, but it's not. I'm home only today - leaving tomorrow through Friday. Give me a call if you need extra Eclipse/LS advice.
  • Jenny Griffin, RMR CRR CCRR CRC

Lorrie, I just sent you an email with my phone number. No, updating takes a few minutes. Well, maybe ten if you have questions. Tell them you've got a friend's config and want to make sure you don't mess up the path when you load it in. Or if you don't know what to do with it, have them tell you. I forget how savvy you are! I'm thinking you are very, though! Good luck!

  • Heidi Belton

Hey Lorrie! We have way too much in common. Banana Pancakes is one of my FAVORITE songs!!! Totally love you music selection on here.
How was Cancun?? Funny you said your picture was from Nov '07. Mine's from Dec '07.

Anyway, I'm all signed up for the DRA convention. My flight gets in at 9:00 on Friday. Would love to meet up with you down there.

PS: I have to do closing arguments on Thursday morning in THAT case!!! Ugh!!
  • Ruth Grant

Hey, Lorrie! Thanks so much for all of your wonderful advice/time. This is a cool site!
  • Jenny Griffin, RMR CRR CCRR CRC

Lorrie, Great new pics! It looks like you had a wonderful time. I've been sorting my '08 receipts. Those drinks you had look soooooo good to me right now!!!

  • Drew Elizabeth Coverson

    Lorrie,
Wondering if you could refer me to a good proofer???
Chayo told me she ran into you in Palo Alto! Hope you're keeping busy!
    Thx,
    Drew

I have no idea what equipment to use ... the school sells refurbished machines, but they aren't computer compatible -- just thought I'd rather spend more money and get the 'latest & greatest' but sounds like this isn't the machine for a student
  • Jenny Griffin, RMR CRR CCRR CRC

Lorrie, Just read you're selling your LS! I'm so glad I don't have to think about mine anymore since I sold it last month. I sure wish you a quick and easy sale! Are you getting a new writer in its place???
  • Christine (Steno Nerd)

  • Christine (Steno Nerd)

Wow! You have so many letters behind your name! Very cool! And good luck with your next new acquired letters... the RMR! I'm still trying to get my CSR. Hehehe. I'm a court reporting student at 180 wpm. When I get my CSR, I hope to follow with as many lovely letters behind my name as yours! What an inspiration! Thank you! :)

Hope you have a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Lorrie, Hope you have a wonderful day planned today and can avoid the computer for all work-related issues!!!
  • Jenny Griffin, RMR CRR CCRR CRC

Lorrie, I sold my LS to Tina Givens so she could use it as a backup. I think she paid my a little under what Stenovations was selling the refurbished ones for. Because of the new one coming out, and the warranty stuff, it's kind of complicated these days. My advice would be to call Stenovations and ask them about ALL options and details about what the new buyer of your used LS could do as far as future upgrades. You may want to post over on depoman.com. I haven't been there yet this morning - maybe you have. Also you can PM Tina or Brenda Rogers from there.

I'm pretty happy with the Grand, although not ecstatic. I've still got some stacking, but my body is happy with it, and I never want to go back to having my hands together!

Good luck with your LS sale. I'm so glad to be done with it! (A new writer for you - Grand, Passport, Diamante - would sure be a nice birthday present!) Thinking about it???
  • Julie Samford

    Happy Bday Lorrie!
