Scopist / Proofreader available for work. I am a working court reporter who loves to scope and proofread on the side.

I know that I’ve expected a lot when I’ve looked for scopists and proofers for myself, and I will bring all those expectations with me and apply them to your transcript! I have plenty of experience in court, anything from divorce trials to murder trials. I also am one of the main court reporters for the Commission hearings in my state, which can be extremely technical. And, of course, regular and medical depositions are welcome. I use Morson’s English Guide for Court Reporters, and I will take the extra time to do the research or alert you if something needs to be looked at.

My name is Eric and I am looking for at least one more reporter to proofread for. I am proofing for one very busy reporter but can easily manage to proof at least 400 or more pages a week in addition to what I currently do. I am a full-time instructor at Brown College of Court Reporting in Atlanta and am currently teaching Proofreading for our students, so I am competent in my field. My English skills are strong, but I am also adaptable and flexible for individual style; it just takes a couple of weeks to adjust. In other words, I do have my own standards I adhere to, but once I learn you like to do something differently, I will adhere to your preference. I have a very keen eye for punctuation as I grade students on a daily basis on all submitted speed tests. I am a good steno writer myself and am fluent in Phoenix and StenEd, and I can read most other theories. I am also the instructor at Brown for Case Catalyst classes and own a Case Catalyst Edit edition. I can proof by showing my changes via F8 scan stops for you, or I can make the changes independently; whatever you prefer. My turnaround averages 24 to 48 hours with no additional charge. I do rush jobs (meaning you send me a job last minute when I get home from work at 10:30 pm and want it the next morning) at X2 rate. My rate is .40 per page. I presently have Microsoft Office 2010, RealPlayer Plus 16, Windows Media Player, ExpressScribe (free download), and just added digitalCAT DC4 (beginner skill level). I presently receive .40 per page for regular turnarounds and .60 per page for expedites, but my rates are negotiable.
