Too many pages/not enough pages/too many pages/not enough pages

The title is basically a very short summation of a court reporters life, at least in the freelance word. I think I first started off this site saying how I was going through a dry spell. Well, the drought is ended and I now have too many pages.

In the morning, I get up and do a rundown of all the tripts I'm currently working on. Which one is due when. Which one's do I still have to work on. Will it be busy next week and I'll be out on all-day depos everyday or will I have spend at least one day at home to finalize tripts and send them out to the agencies. Remember to e-mail out those roughs.

How many exhibits do I have that I have to prepare and send into the agencies. There's so much minutiae attached to putting together a transcript that just fills your day.

Then there's crazy me who actually wants to have a personal life and not want to work on tripts all weekend long, so I get up extra early to do a little work then I spend time w/my family and friends. And instead of working on tripts, I'm procrastinating and blogging. But I guess I am addicted.

Back to work.

Just wondering...have you ever thought of using the services of a scopist? I'll be out of town this week, but if you're interested in a scopist, or just have questions, feel free to e-mail me. I'll be able to answer e-mails when I return, Sat., 2/23. I'm here to assist, if you're interested. : ) :~ Denise ~:

Every single court reporter I know has the same exact complaint.
Having a personal life and being a court reporter at the same time is very difficult, I cant believe how hard/long some if not all the court reporters I know work.
and as I always tell every court reporter that complains about work being slow, do not worry, you will be complaining about the exact opposite in a couple of weeks.
