Well, I had a court reporter nightmare the other night. Of course, one of those that doesn't make sense involving a logging camp and taking a deposition in a tent. Anyway, for reasons that make sense in my dream, we had to evacuate bec. it was going to blow up. I took off with my laptop, but I was debating whether I should go back for my writer.

And it started me thinking. I often take depositions in high rises. In fact, I've been in a building when the alarm goes off. If this happened to you, what would you do? I decided to take my laptop and my security key and my purse. I left my writer.

In cases like this, what happens is you're not allowed to use the elevator. So I would have to haul that thing down a lot of flights of stairs. In this case, I think we were pretty sure it was a false alarm. But what if it was a real emergency. What would you do?

I've been in a few situations like this, and I don't take anything. I just go. If I thought it might be a false alarm, I would grab my purse.

I was once in a building that had a bomb scare and I took my machine and my laptop, walked down the stairs, and walked back to the hotel I was staying at.
