I know I've seen people talk about this on this site before. I need some kind of a set-up for when I'm at an arbitration and the witness is not very close to me. I need some kind of a headphone with an amplifier so I can hear them better. Any suggestions? I've seen officials talk about some kind of a set-up that they use for bench conferences.
Thanks for your input.

Hi Janiece,

You can get all the information on the Radio Shack amplifier at my website.

Go to http://www.courtreportersmuseum.info/amplifier.htm

Also, I recommend a headset, and somtimes you may want to work with the headset covering only one of your ears. This is because once the headset is on, you won't be able to know which directions voices are coming from, and this could be a problem identifying a speaker.

I personally did not like earbuds because they fall out.

Also, some of the part numbers may have changed, but I like my headset to have an in-line volume control.

I use the amplifier on ALL jobs including depositions. It's a God-Send.

I use the amplifier on hearing to clearly hear people 15 or 20 feet away from me.

Also, keep a few extra batteries on hand because the batteries eventually wear out.

Also, sometimes I use masking tape and tape the amplifier to the table so that it isn't knocked on the floor.

Also on some jobs I use more than one of the amplifiers that can be placed in far distant spots, i.e. on a podium on a stage when you are sitting down on the main floor with the audience.

Good Luck. The Radio Shack amplifier is the best tool ever if used properly.

Bill
Thanks, Bill,
I'm going to get everything you suggested this weekend. I have a two-day arbitration next week.
Great suggestions.
