Could someone tell me here or point me to a Web site/document on instructions for Internet streaming of realtime/text? I would like to learn how to do this and have some questions.

1) Do I need special software?

2) Do I need to have my own mobile wireless Internet, or could I rely on using the law firm's wi-fi?

3) Could text streaming only be done with LiveNote, or could it be done with Eclipse and Bridge?

If my questions don't even make sense, it's because I have no idea what I'm talking about. Basically, I just would like to learn how to do Internet streaming.

More specifically and immediately, I need to know how to do text streaming by next Tuesday!!!

Your help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Yes, you'd set up your StenoCast as usual.  I would set the job up in Eclipse first.  I have gotten access violations before if I set up the receiving computer first.  LiveNote will send the IP address to the people who have signed up for the session.  You don't have to worry about that end of it.

You should check with the agency you're working for whether they charge for multiple hookups to one party.

Thank, Janet!

The setup says, "CAT Output: If you use CaseView, click CaseView in the list. If you use an output type other than CaseView,
click ASCII Wrap."

So does that mean I could use Bridge somehow and stream through/to LN Stream Manager? Sorry if that's a dumb question. :)

Oh, one more question, sorry.

What do you mean by: "Make sure the Virtual Port box is not checked.  (The only time you'd ever check that box is if you have Stream Manager on the same laptop as Eclipse and you were strictly streaming online, no direct connections in the conference room)?"

There is no "virtual port" option on my netbook.  Is that because I don't have the session hooked up yet? Good to know I may run into problems when streaming from my own laptop, as that was how I was originally intending to do it. I won't do it that way, then.

I will have the second netbook that the attorney in the room wants to look at, and then I believe someone from somewhere else will be viewing from the Internet.

Also, is this considered two connections, even if the two people viewing are on the same side/represent the same party? Is this billed to us at the same rate as realtime?

What I like about CRC is you get online, hit on the CRC icon, go into your court reporting software and just start writing; you don't need any user names or passwords.  It's so much better and it works great.  Just the fact Livenote changes stuff on you at the drop of a hat without notice I don't like.

I didn't have to configure anything in Livenote.  After you put in all the info they want, you name the job and hit "next" and you're in.  You just start writing.  I didn't configure anything.  Just make sure you can answer all their damn questions.

Sounds easy enough.  I just hope their customer service is reliable. Worst thing is to tick off the client if we can't get it to work that day. :(

Hi, all.  I've set up the LiveNote and tried to use the simulation feature.  Question is, If I could see the "auto" text streaming from wherever it is coming from, does that mean I have established a successful connection?

The setup guide does not say anything about "hosting" the session on a separate laptop from my own. It only gives example scenarios if you're running Stream Manager from the same/your own laptop.

Ugh, I hate LN! They make their products so inconvenient to use, AND they are totally unresponsive!!! :(

I don't think that means you've established a connection.  It's just like the O.J. Simpson case in the simulation mode in LN.  Hook up your two laptops just like a regular output to a client.   On the second laptop, go into Stream Manager, enter the IP address and password they provided you.  In the configuration window, select serial hookup, then the COM port number.   You should be able to go into your session now.

Here is an image of the configuration window.   Instead of checking the box for local CAT, just check serial.  I output to CaseView at a 2400 baud rate.  If you do, change that 9600 there to 2400.   You'll see that little box I was telling you about for virtual port.  That should not be checked.  Where it says "CAT sending on," you should put the COM port number of the port on your receiving laptop there, not the sending computer.

Thanks so much for all your help, Janet. I was able to call RealLegal early this afternoon, and they actually walked me through a quick test.  With everything everyone in this thread has helped me with, we were able to get a connection and test done in less than five minutes. I didn't realize that in LN the COM ports do not have to match like they do with Bridge.

I'll come back and let you know how it goes.

Thanks again very much everyone! The Nation rocks! For someone completely unfamiliar with this streaming territory, you've all made it a cinch! Muahzzzzz!!!  Did I say I love this place already? :)

You're welcome!   Now that you've got it all down, it will be a breeze.   Don't forget to check for the green heads to see who is actually connected.

Oh, yes, thanks for the reminder on the green heads!

So how'd the streaming job go?????
