I am a PDFproofreader, but also proof in DigitalCAT.  If you need help with proofreading, please check out my website, jtproofreading.com or email me at karen@jtproofreading.com.

One of my CART providing friends called Support, when she got that dreaded message that her dictionary was corrupt.

The support tech -- the very same guy that blocked me from all of the Stenovations groups on Facebook, by the way -- took over her computer ... and could not fix the problem.

She did the job as best she could being a dictionary down, and promised her client a cleaned up copy later.

Then she got on Facebook and wrote about what happened, so I asked her if she would send me her corrupt dictionary, which she did.

I went about it in a rather round-about way, but I was able to fix her dictionary for her ... thanks to an odd error message I remembered seeing a few years ago.

After I fixed her dictionary the first time I then remembered a couple of menu items in the Dictionary Maintenance program, under the Tools menu -- namely the "Compact and Repair" menu item.

I selected that, pointed it to the damaged dictionary, and within minutes, it was fixed.

Not bad for a guy who doesn't work in tech support, huh?

Glen, there are other issues at play that you don't know about.  Calling support is always the best plan.  :)

Perhaps, but that's not what you posted last month.

So you're saying you don't have a "quick and accurate answer" at the ready, even after telling everybody that what I suggested was "ten years out of date" and how she'd have "all sorts of problems" following what I posted?

In this case, Denise should contact support@stenovations.com.  Sometimes there are issues that I am not able to address and support needs to be involved.

Is anyone else still waiting to see that "quick and accurate answer" ...?

Well, I emailed Greta and she has yet to respond. Why tell someone to email you for a "quick and accurate response" and then nothing. I'm confused by your post. Glen can help me, I'm sure. I'm on a version ten years old so I'm going to fix it later. In the future, I'll just send him a private message.

Denise, Please email me at greta@stenovations.com or support@stenovations.com for a quick and accurate answer.
