I just saw an offer on the Martel Electronics web site.  Martel will pay $100 for a working Sanyo TRC 8080 transcriber in working order.  You also need to send the foot pedal and the power source.  They will send a check within 5 days of receipt of the unit.

I actually have this unit and use it...however it has been acting up....I'd like to see why it speeds up and slows down while in the midst of listening to a taped job.....and my erase button is stuck in the down mode....so I can never erase my work on the tapes...I just rewind and tape over them now...but I am not willing to part with my unit....

Vita, you can send them in and have them repaired.

Yes,...but I had a bad experience with the company on a microphone for the recorder..and I don't prefer to go to them now, so I'm kinda stuck not knowing where I can go to repair, as this type of equipment is not your everyday machinery, so not just anyone does repairs....it's specialized...wonder what they would charge for the repairs I need.....

I have a Sanyo tape recorder that slows the speed and makes tapes go lots longer and auto flips....and the microphone pen that I bought from them.....I had them service my unit..and it never got properly fixed..and when I returned the unit to them to complain...they didn't want to honor any of the work or deal with me...so I'm uncomfortable going to them to give them more money to service the other machine I bought from them...do you know of another entity that can help me...

Vita, so you had a bad experience w/ Martel on the repair?  No, they have always told me I could send my stuff to them for repair but I have not had to send mine in for repair.  I'm considering selling mine to them b/c I use tapes less and less all the time.

I have the Sanyo transcriber.

Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience.

I posted this b/c I thought if people just had units sitting around they might want to get money for them.

You are too sweeet.....I have the Sanyo transcriber unit....and I don't want to part with mine...I always listen to all jobs with that, as I'm so perfectionist...that I want to make 100% certain I got the job...so I utilize every depo...no matter how well I wrote....so basically, I put up with the speed changing in the midst of listening to the job....and I don't erase the job anymore....due to the stuck key....I don't work enough to buy the new expensive Steno equipment with the audio sync'd into the writer....doesn't mean I don't produce the same quality transcript in the end that a reporter who owns all the bells and whistles equipment does....just outdated, I am....

I have been a member to this site since it started, but I am not getting emails anymore for job opportunities....can you assist me in telling which menu I can go to to make sure I get the emails for job opps in my Inland Empire area???

Thanks for helping me...

P.S.  I suppose I could have my boyfriend drop the unit off and they can service it still, but they might see who it's registered too or the owner info..and that's me...and refuse to work on it....but his isn't the unit that I had the issues with.....

enough, vita....let her go...

Gracie.

Hi, Gracie/Vita?

I use audiosynch to listen but when I first started reporting I didn't have it (audiosynch) and I used the tapes.  Yes, you can definitely still produce transcripts with the tapes.  I will tell you having done it both ways, it's much easier to produce transcripts with audiosynch.

I know with some of the California groups that you now have to pay a fee in order to get jobs.  I'm not sure how that works b/c I'm in Kansas.  You can send a msg to Kelli, the lady that owns the site.  She may be on vacation right now but you can send her a msg. and she will get back to you as soon as she can.

You might be able to post a msg to the California reporters and someone there may be able to help you.  Sorry I'm not more help.

Janiece

Are they going to resell it for more?
I don't know.  Probably.
