Are there any captioning/CART writers out there?

I'm interested in trying captioning/CART writing; but a bit confused. I definitely don't have the Real time accuracy yet to do live captioning; but I was under the impression that you could do captioning for prerecorded shows (which I assume enables you to write perfect notes). Is that true? If so, what are the requirements and can I get into it as a nearly finished student?

Wonder if you would be interested in helping out with captioning for our monthly hearing loss meetings in Baltimore, MD, held on the 4th Thursday/Month except Dec/Jul/Aug from 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM in the auditorium of The Hearing and Speech Agency www.hasa.org.
