NCRA on ER and Voice Writers (before considering reinstatement of credentials)

I received an e-mail from the NCRA today regarding reinstatement of my lapsed credentials, and I am considering it. But before I decide to attempt to reinstate, I would like to know what the NCRA's current stance is regarding ER and whether they ever chose to certify voice writers.

I left the organization years ago over these issues, out of pure disgust/disdain, and completely stopped following any news related to the NCRA. Could anyone give me an update?

I really don't see the concern.  Today's systems have so many redundant backup methods that I can't imagine a scenario where you lose everything.  The writers themselves have RAM and two backup cards.  If the writer stops in the middle of the job, that doesn't mean you lose what you've already written, and you also have that job streaming to a computer making its own separate file.  You then can also run a separate audio source like a digital recorder.  All of these files can be easily backed up to external media or online storage.   I would argue that's far safer than paper.
