Ugh. I've always brought my own laptops for RT. Of course, there will be the occasional exception where the attorney insists on bringing his own. So this is a first for me.  He is bringing his own with "West Livenote 2.0" & "Livenote 10."

I am still on Eclipse 4.3, using Stenocast RED with 4 red receivers and 2 blue. What do I need to do to get his to connect? I don't have cables, so that's not an option.

This is what I'm "guessing" I need to do:

- In Ecl "Realtime" tab, add output format for Summation/Caseview.

- Install Stenocast driver on his laptop, if he does not already have it.

- I forget whose COM port I need to put in: attorney's or mine.

- Use blue receiver.

- Change baud rate to 2400.

Anything else I need to do?  Please help!

Thanks! :)

You are correct - put Caseview on your computer and then load the Stenocast driver on his computer and then put in your dongle.  Then go to hardware devices under control panel (on his computer) and find out which comport your Stenocast Red or blue is.  Once you know that, then just go into Livenote and hook him up.  Livenote will ask which comport to use and you put in what you looked up on the computer.  Keep in mind using Livenote, you have to be on a comport lower than 9 or it won't work.

I know it is a total pain in the B-U-T-T to deal with this issue.  Some attorneys insist on it.  I had my office want me to take a job with an attorney that insisted on cables and he still was using that dinosour technology.  I also knew he was not the most pleasant of individuals because he was yelling at the reporter the day before, "Just make it work!!" when she had it all wirelessly.  Of course, she couldn't make it work.  She had some router system that used the internet.  Cables are a thing of the past.

Anyway, I told the office I don't use cables anymore and don't even know where they are.  I probably could have made it work, but I knew this attorney was not very pleasant and I just didn't want to deal with him.

Thanks, Kelli! Wish me luck. It's a VERY VIP witness. No pressure or anything.

Oh, wait, that's going into Livenote on his computer or on mine? Or both? Oh, do I need to have LN streaming software thing on my computer too? Ugh.

Oh, btw, it's our job to know EVERYTHING, don't you know? I had an Indian witness and a French witness, both with very, very heavy accents on a tech case. Of course, it was my job to know what the hell the witnesses were saying, because if they couldn't understand, they just look at the RT screen. I'm just supposed to know. But, thankfully, the two attorneys I was working with were probably two of the nicest attorneys I've ever worked with in my entire career. At least they were nice to me -- to opposing counsel, not so much. They're from PA. That made two veeeerrrry long, difficult days just a bit more bearable.

Hi, Quyen,

I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure the LN streaming is only when you are streaming to the internet.  If you are just providing realtime for the attorney in the room, as Kelli said you use Caseview as your Output.  He is choosing to "view" with Livenote software, which is on his computer.  He could choose Bridge or CaseViewNet.

I think you're right, Janiece. Thanks. I'm confusing it with the time I was frantically trying to figure out how to stream -- only to have it cancel at the last minute, lol. :)

Oh, it canceled, well, time to relax and have a cold one!!!

No, no, this one did not cancel. I was talking about the previous one, where I was supposed to stream.

Oh, okay.  Well, at least you don't have to stream.  You'll do great!!!

Well, I should say this one hasn't canceled YET. Thanks for the vote of confidence, Janiece. :)

No, you don't have to have Livenote on your computer at all - only the attorney's laptop has to have it.  If he wants to use it, he has to supply it.
