I'm wondering, does anyone use subscripting in their files.  for example in a patent if a number is written in a subscript to the right of a letter, is that how you would do it in the transcript or would you write it right next to:

for instance:  P9 or P and then a small 9 to the top of the P?

any thoughts or opinions?

thanks

Unless I'm producing the transcript, I don't do any of that.  I send my files to the agency in an ASCII format.  ASCII strips out special formatting such as italics, subscripts, underlines, etc.  It may look all pretty on your end, but they don't get any of it at the agency end.

Also another reason I don't bother my head about italics versus all caps for case  names.  I go all caps usually bec. italics won't show.

thank you!

Funny, I just had this come up today.  An attorney needs it in a transcript.  If you produce the transcript in PDF format, the subscripts will be there.  If you do it in ascii they will not b/c it is not what is called "rich text."  You can produce and ascii and manually go in and insert those characters with a program called Acrobat Pro.

thank you
