Scoping Software???

I'm about to purchase the software to scope on my own. I previously used the reporter's software and key, but want to get my own. What are the most popular ones that people use the most? I've heard Eclipse and Case Catalyst??? Do the versions convert or will I always have to have the newest version or the exact version the reporter has to be able to scope their work? I appreciate any advice.

I'm not exactly sure, but if you go onto the Eclipse and Case Catalyst's websites, there would be a table of specifications, I think.
