Hello, my name is Cynthia Cathcart. I am fairly new to CSRNation and am so happy to see that there is this group for Reporters turned Scopists -- we are a rare breed, you know, and I look forward to participating in future discussions with this group. Here is a bit about my background:

I am a newly retired Official Reporter from Superior Court. I began my career as a deposition reporter and three years later, in 1980, became an Official Reporter in the Superior Court, where I reported civil, juvenile and family law, but mainly criminal trials.

I became a CAT reporter in 1985 and soon thereafter became a Certified Realtime Reporter. From the time I became a CAT reporter in 1985, until the time of my retirement, I scoped (edited) and proofed all of my own trials, many of which I solo dialed; thus, I am very aware of the importance of submitting an accurate transcript on time. 85 to 90 percent of my trials were murder trials, with many of them being 'death penalty' cases, quite often with multiple defendants and attorneys, of course.

I realize that most reporters are looking for scopists who have 2 to 5 years' experience as a scopist; however, I trust that my 20 plus years scoping for myself suffices for the experience most reporters seek.

I started on 'Eclipse' right around the time Eclipse first came on the market and am now using Total Eclipse Version 4.3.0.9. I scope with or without audiosynch and with Total Eclipse am able to convert ‘other’ software programs to/from Total Eclipse.

Please e-mail me @ cmcath@msn.com if you feel I can be of assistance to you at this time or in the future.

Hello All! I am new to this site, but not new to the profession. I have been scoping for 13 years, after having first served as a reporter. Scoping is my full-time job and I am passionate about my work!

I was a court reporter for 25 years, have been an acute care (hospital) medical transcriptionist for 14 and overlapped the 2 for about 10 years. I have lots of medical terminology background, and because I still do it full-time, I'm up on the oldest AND newest instruments, equipment, etc., as well as the new words that come up almost daily, including the ones doctors make up and then use so much that they become accepted medical terms. I'm also a former Colorado State Spelling Bee participant and can spell darn near anything I hear! I'm pretty new at scoping, getting better and faster with each transcript, and wanting to do much more of it. I'm on Aristocat, used Case Catalyst when I was reporting. Call or e-mail when you need help! Best number: (970) 590-5138 or e-mail lkstevenss@hotmail.com (yes, 2 s's!)

I have been a Texas CSR for 18 years but recently moved to Albuquerque to be near my first grandchild. I primarily use Eclipse but also scope Case CATalyst using rtf files. I enjoy medical and technical depos, researching terms. Feel free to e-mail me at LKGARR129@gmail.com.

I am a former court reporter with 11 years of experience in the field. I have been a scopist now for three years and have two clients. I would like to add another reporter to be as busy as I need to be. Please visit my Web site to learn more about me. I use CaseCatalyst with audiosync.

Let me know if I can be of help to you.

I was a court reporter for 19 years in Ohio until moving to Iowa to be with family. I co-owned a reporting firm so I know how important it is to have an accurate and timely transcript and how important it is to find a scopist who cares as much about the transcript as the reporter does. If you are in need of a scopist, even for last-minute jobs, don't hesitate to contact me.

I am a retired freelance court reporter from the Mississippi Gulf Coast. I worked in a busy court reporting firm in Pascagoula, MS, for approximately eight years and recorded, transcribed and proofed deposition testimony of all types on a daily basis. I left the court reporting profession to return to college to pursue my bachelors in education. I have recently graduated, but I have a six-month-old that I would love to be able to stay home with for now. This site was recommended to me by a former co-reporter, so this is all new to me, but I learn quickly and look forward to working with clients to produce awesome transcripts. I am proficient in using the CaseCatalyst software and have Audio Sync capabilities.

I am a former Federal Court Stenographer turned scopist. I love scoping. I love being able to work from home so I can be with my babies. I am currently on Case Cat.

I was sidelined by carpal tunnel many years ago and have been scoping ever since. Funny thing is, the machine gave me lots of problems, but the computer keyboard gives me none. Isn't that odd?

BTW, I'm the human, not the dog :-)

I am a former reporter with six years of freelance reporting experience. I have been scoping/proofreading/transcribing for two years. I love to chat and love to meet reporters and scopists who I can discuss everyday wife/mother/reporter/scopist issues with. Please feel free to leave a comment on my page. I am happy to answer any questions you may have!
