Hi, Sabrina. Thanks for the response. That's the way I went with it: demo'd. I really appreciate your help and Stacy and Rebecca's, too.

Have a great weekend!

Dear Sabrina,

Thanks for responding. I hope you don't mind answering my questions. I have lots of them!!

I don't have any current software. I have Premier Power. It's been about eight years since I reported, so I'm kind of out of the loop. I am currently a stay-at-home mom who wants to get back to work. I think scoping would be the perfect job for me, and I am very excited to get started.

I am willing to buy or lease software, but I would like to have some potential clients lined up before I do, if that's possible.

As far as marketing, what exactly what do you mean? Making cold calls? Hitting the pavement and visiting court reporting firms? Can the marketing be done entirely online? I've heard that scoping can be done this way; I'm just not sure how to do it (sending and receiving the files, etc.).

Thanks for your help. It is truly appreciated.

I hear you about Eclipse. I've been training myself, too, for a couple of months, have gone through the visualizers several times, and I am still on information overload. I have to go through a little at a time or it is, as my kids call it, "TMI." Too much information! I guess the best way to learn is to have "hands-on experience." I am doing my best to find that right now. Nice to talk to you, Sabrina.

Sabrina,
I had about an hour or two of training over the phone, which was very helpful. I had several practice files, too, to work with. Play your tutorials, then I would post on Eclipse's website and see if someone might send you some practice files. Open up the software and your manual and go to it! Still, it doesn't quite compare to actually working with the software. Different reporters have different needs, of course, so what you master in editing for one, you just don't use for the next. By lines really drove me insane for a while.
Remember, if you mastered one, you can master another.
Good luck with it!

Hi, Sabrina.
My favorite is digitalCAT. Eclipse has the pretty stuff and some things are easier, but when you're used to one then go to the other it takes adjustment. It's not hard to learn, just tricky remembering the shortcuts. I've spoken to some that have added Case after being on digitalCAT and they've said it's very difficult to learn.
Thanks for inviting me to the Scopist/Former CR group! Great idea.
I'll have to come to your page more often, GREAT music! Your little prince is quite a cutie. Bless him
