I need to know how to make macros, etc.  Every time I got into "Help," it never works and is so frustrating to me!

I have been poking around on that one too. Cheryl Flanders is a contributor to the Word section. I have a trial edition of something called ShortKeys. I was able to import my .acl file from Word with all my AutoCorrects and use them in WordPerfect too. It will only be $20 after the trial. I am sure InstantText would have some more bells and whistles, but it is close to $200.
I will give an update after I use it for a bit to let you know how it works over the long haul. Just wish there was something to convert my Word macros to WP!!

Hey, K.C., I just now read your post about text expanders.

A lot of folks are RAVING about something called "IT" (Instant Text). I'm not sure why, as I'm still transcribing in DOS, but I do try to keep up with the Microsoft Word smut for the day when my Windows 98 computer
crashes. :-)

This website here is supposed to be very informative about shorthand expanders: ProductivityTalk-dot-com

I am curious if any of you folks use a text expander for your transcribing. I am looking at adding FastFox to my tool kit. Right now I am relying on the auto correct feature in Word, but I am considering something a little more robust.

FastFox is from the same company that has ExpressScribe, so I figure there would be few installation issues and it is much less expensive than some of the other packages.

Any thoughts?

Carol, I'm not sure what you mean. I'd be happy to help if I can though...

I do not know anything about Case. However, if you are using a brief form or macro for your Q's and A's, it may be that the brief form or macro is inserting that extra space.

In other words, if you had a brief form or macro for "Space/ENTER/Tab in 5 spaces/Q./Tab in 5 spaces," that could be the culprit.

One lady who works with me always has macros and brief forms for her colloquy "MR." and "MS.," and as a result there are THREE SPACES between "MR." and "SMITH," for example. It drives me crazy. I told her about it, and she said that it is the macro she uses for "ENTER/MR./SPACE." For some reasons this macro gets extra spaces.

I am probably off base but was hoping to provide food for thought.

well... that didn't work.

After the Q. should be a tab. :)

Hi Jane!!

Well, the kind of transcription I'm doing is just recorded statements, straight Q&A.

The issue I'm having is with extra spacing. What I need my format to look like is:

Q.My name is Carol.

What i get is an extra space at the end of last period of a paragraph. I just have the student version of Case, and I'm not proficient in it at ALL..but I cannot figure out for the life of me if there's a way to "fix" spacing at the end of a paragraph.

If this doesn't make sense, let me know. I can probably email you an example better. :)

Thanks!

I use Case with Word. What's the issue you're having?
