This group is for Version 5 users to share what aspects of Version 5 they are using and why.....as well as requests for help as problems arise using Version 5.

I just downloaded Version 5 (a year after it came out), and I feel like I'm learning Eclipse all over again.

Would greatly appreciate input from other Version 5 users.

I thought I had plenty of space, too, and never had a problem on Version 4, but tech support said it was because Version 5 just uses so MUCH space.

I think you're supposed to hit a command key and then it will let you type in a number. I didn't know that when I started using Version 5 so I turned AutoMagic off.

You can turn it off by clicking on Window at the very top, View Toggles.....a big box will pop up. On the right you'll see a small box for Auto Magic. Uncheck that.

You may want to keep it on, though. Does anyone know what the command key is?

I also have my sound profile set to none and do not get e-mail notification sounds. I've changed the division interval to 60. Hopefully, that will fix the lagging AND the beeping. We'll see! I don't think the lagging is a memory issue. I have 69% free space on my hard drive and 3 G of RAM. I don't run any other programs while taking down a job except perhaps connect to the Internet whenever available. Only the absolute necessary programs are running in the background.

Yes, what Wynne said. I can't type in a number to choose a conflict while editing because the numbers are now choices to do a bunch of stuff I don't really even have (or take) the time to look at or do.

My new computer also beeps every time a new email comes in, and I use a "No Sounds" Windows sound configuration. I've gone so far as to set my incoming email notification to play a silent wave file, but even that doesn't stop the beeping. Only solution I've found is to either mute the speakers or plug in earbuds so I don't hear it.

Also, what do you have your DI time set to? If the audio file uploading is huge, that might cause a delay.

Can you explain what you mean by you can't use numbers editing in v5?

At one time I had VERY SLOW TRANSLATION with Version 5, called tech support, and they said that Version 5 is a resource hog and that's what causes that. I went into my programs area on the Control Panel and deleted some programs I wasn't using that took a lot of space. Haven't had that problem since.

Maybe space on your computer could be a partial cause of what you're experiencing.

Comment by Quyen on November 28, 2012 at 20:24: Oh, I also get this occasional, random beeping sound. I don't know what the heck it is, but it is caused by Eclipse. I've tried to pay attention to when it does the beeping, but haven't been able to exactly pinpoint it. It happens most after I pause for breaks, and then it stops. Then it beeps again at random points. Good grief!
