Eclipse Version 5 Users

This group is for Version 5 users to share what aspects of Version 5 they are using and why.....as well as requests for help as problems arise using Version 5.

I just downloaded Version 5 (a year after it came out), and I feel like I'm learning Eclipse all over again.

Would greatly appreciate input from other Version 5 users.

No, the +(Space) is for if you WANT double stroke briefs.

I find that sometimes my realtime kit stuff doesn't work when it was working in the morning, then it stops working, then it will work again later.

What I mean is if I'm writing, like yesterday I was writing GIC, three strokes for an hour and a half before there was a break and I could put in a one stroke brief for it.  Now, in Version 4, it would automatically give me a suggestion for this acronym but V5 doesn't.  I also have macros set up where I hit THRBZ for three-stroke brief suggestion.  V5 just ignores me.  V4 would immediately give me a suggestion.

No, I don't want to write it in two strokes, I want a one-stroke suggestion for it.  Sorry if that wasn't clear.  So frustrating.  I already called on it and what they told me to do didn't work.  Maybe I need to go in under "ineligible words" and put in the + and space as suggested.  They never suggested that.

two-stroke briefs are easier for me to remember, especially when they scroll off the screen and aren't showing anymore and I haven't had time to write them down.

So when it gives you FO FO for "form and foundation" or something like the words sound, it's easier for me to retain.

If it just gave me F*F or FOEF or whatever, it's harder for me to remember.  Don't know why.  I tried getting rid of the double brief and I was accidentally hitting them when I didn't need them.  It was a disaster.

Kelli, sometime V5 won't give me one at all!  But why do you want a two-stroke brief?  Do you mean a brief for two words??

I've always done double strokes.  You just need a plus sign and one space after it in your definition.

+(space)

You can still have other definitions in there.  But maybe you've got something that's conflicting with the double stroke you're wanting.

Call support and tell them all the things you have listed and they'll be able to tell you if something is messing with your +(space) definition.

I haven't been using the request for AutoBrief......maybe someone else out there has????

Comment by Kelli Combs (admin) on August 3, 2012 at 9:32

I'm having a real problem with the AutoBrief in Version 5.  It never gives me the correct suggestions.  I ask for a two stroke brief and it won't give it to me.  It works great in Version 4.  Anyone else having this problem??

And Margaret, a big welcome to you, too!
