Eclipse Version 5 Users

This group is for Version 5 users to share what aspects of Version 5 they are using and why.....as well as requests for help as problems arise using Version 5.

I just downloaded Version 5 (a year after it came out), and I feel like I'm learning Eclipse all over again.

Would greatly appreciate input from other Version 5 users.

Can anyone out there help Amanda?

I am reposting my problem from last night.  I wanted to reword (and run some errands this morning!).

I am having trouble with the audio synching with the files that my scopist picks up from Dropbox.  When she merges the files, the audio, at the end of the file, keeps going and does not synch with the new text merged in.  I have my DI set at 15 (just to test it) and the ecl and wav goes to our shared folder--no problem there.

I tried underscoring in the name; but when I did that, the wav file would not go to Dropbox at all, just the ecl's.  The way I set it to underscore is Alt-U, Realtime, Filename, and putting an underscore at the end of all those symbols.  On my division interval, I have gone to Alt-U, User, Advanced, Network, path set to the Dropbox folder we share--that works (except no wav when put underscore on file name).

I have spoken with support and they said I do not need to put anything in my Programming path (and they also said I do not need to underscore), but that she needs to go to Programming and to File Location and add the path there for WAVPLAY (WAVPLAY = path).  She's done that--still audio probs.  Is there a step that we're missing?  Or maybe are we combining the two separate methods of getting 'er done, StenoLink requirements and Dropbox requirements, as they are not the same?

Learned through research that I can set my writer to Diamante, instead of Stentura--I will change that on the outside chance that has anything to do with our issue--doubt it.

If anyone can shed any light at all, it would be greatly appreciated.

Also, if you know whether scopist should just open the file in DB or if she should copy the file into Eclipse from Dropbox and then work on it after doing that step.

I'm going to keep pluggin' away!

One of the best reasons to get in version 5 is the backup feature.  I advise everyone to go into Eclipse and click on help/new version changes - and then do a search for the word auto-save.  Read it and be amazed!  Here is a little paste.

The auto-save works thusly: Every ten minutes, the entire document saves.  Between full saves, every five seconds the software does a quick-save to a hidden log file in order to preserve document integrity in the event of a problem.

The upshot of all this is simple: Previous versions saved every paragraph as you edited, so in the even of a crash or a lockup, you would never lose more than the changes in one paragraph. In this version, you cannot lose any more than five seconds of work. Yes, you read that correctly. Five seconds.

Why would you have to put the entire wav and ecl file into the network file at the end if it is sending automatically all day long in 60/90 min increments?

Here's what she says:

"I just pulled it out of the DropBox each time.  So I don't know where it came from -- eclipse or your other source, which I didn't know about.  It worked beautifully, though.  I would just read the job in at the end of the prior file, and I didn't have to rename WAV file.  I just copied the new WAV file into Eclipse, and everything stayed synced.  It was wonderful."

I have an e-mail out to  my scopist now to find out if the wav file is included in the interval dump.  From what I can see, it is not.  It does, however, dump one whole wav file at the end, when you close your job.  I'll post again when she responds to me.

Thanks, Barb and, Judy!

Maybe I can get them to post.  I know Amanda had a problem earlier she was looking for help with.

Stay tuned, okay?

Wynne,

I just did a daily on Thursday where I had my 90-minute intervals being dumped directly to the scopist's DropBox folder.  It is easy-peasy to set up (at least the .ecl intervals).  What problem are your friends having?

Oh, great!  Wonderful!  Maybe u can keep an eye on the posts here and help us out.

I have two friends who are having trouble getting DropBox to be flawless.....I'm working on just the basic Version 5 changes myself at this point.

Glad to have you with us!
