Transcript proofreader with more than 20 years' experience available to a court reporter with steady workload.  Experience in same-day, next day, and regular turnarounds (depositions and trials).  Industry experience includes pharmaceutical, construction, patent infringement/intellectual property, PA Workers’ Compensation and U.S. Tax Court.  I proof from ASCII txt (my preference) or PDF files, perform online research for verification and quality assurance, maintain running word lists for case/deposition spellings and terminology, and provide a simple errata of corrections and queries.  Rates (for 25 lines) are:  .75 per page for expedites & real-time – ASAP & same-day turnaround; .60 per page for rush jobs – 24 hours; .40 per page for regular or standard jobs – 48+ hours; and there is no additional charge for weekends. PayPal preferred payment.  If interested, please contact pascribe721@gmail.com.

Hello.

I am a PDF proofreader looking to start working with court reporters as soon as possible. I have extensive training with what to look for in a transcript. Obviously grammar and punctuation is just a small part, but it never hurts to know the rules, and I am well versed in the basics and more complicated rules.

Rates

Regular turnaround (48 - 72 hours) rate: 40 cents a page

Rush turnaround (less than 48 hours) rate: 50 cents a page

Expedite (less than 24 hours) rate: 60 cents a page

For especially messy pages, there will be a ten cent upcharge

My email is mattvillegasproofreader@gmail.com

I'm more than open to doing a trial run if so desired. I certainly don't have years of experience; all I can promise is that I will do everything in my power to ensure your transcript is returned in pristine condition. After all, it's your name on it.

My goal is to save court reporters valuable time by giving their transcripts a final polish.

✓ THOROUGHLY TRAINED - I completed Caitlin Pyle’s Transcript Proofreading: Theory and Practice course based on “Morson’s English Guide for Court Reporters,” the works of Margie Wakeman Wells, and NCRA guidelines. I have “The Gregg Reference Manual” and can research other rules.

✓ REPORTER PREFERENCES RULE - While I was trained on set rules, your name is on the finished transcript. I have a preferences questionnaire for new clients to complete so I can learn your style and tailor my corrections to fit.

✓ WHAT I LOOK FOR - During the extensive practice module of my training course, I developed a checklist to use in my work. I look for errors in formatting, consistency, spelling, capitalization, and punctuation. I Google names and places to verify accuracy. I ensure covers, appearances, indexes, and certificates are included as needed.

✓ TURNAROUND TIME - I return pages with suggested corrections in PDF format within 3 business days. Depending on my schedule, I may be available for rush (48-hour) or expedited (24-hour) jobs.

Can I proofread your transcript so you can move on to your next paying job or spend extra time with your family? Visit peacockwordsmithing.com to get started!

Retired Official Reporter/current proofreader looking for more clients!  I prefer to proofread via PDF, sending you back only annotated pages. If you are on CaseCatalyst, I can make corrections right in your transcript, sending you back a perfect transcript!

Looking for full-time, part-time, as-needed basis work!

I have been scoping and now proofreading in Eclipse  for 10 years. I have a great deal of experience with court and freelance, excellent medical terminology and I have never missed a turnaround deadline.  I prefer proofreading but can also scope with full audio if you're in a pinch.  I am on Version 8 and will make obvious changes in the transcript with your approval.  Anything I am not 150% sure of I mark and include a comment why something is marked.    Please email me at betts216@gmail.com if you think I might fit your needs.
