I use my own equipment.
I recommend the following equipment:-

1- Sony vx2000 ($1500) OR Sony PD150 (same price)
2- 4 Sony ECM 55b Microphone
3- Sure 4 channel mixer
4- Time and date generator. (If you buy the PD150 you dont need this)
5- 2 sets of panasonic DMR-EZ28 DVD recorders.
6- tape recorder.
7- a small LCD monitor
8- tripod
9- a bunch of cables and many other little connectors to connect everything.

With this equipment you will provide the agency and or your clients with 2 DVDs (master and back up)
you can also do Mini DV copy if they request it (they hardly ever do)

hope this helps

Hi Jill,
Yes, there is a program that a videographer can take to become "certified".
I have never and will never take it. it is a way to take your money and it is not recognized by anyone or any state that I know off.

Some states or employers do require that you be a notary public.

If you fully know the technical and legal aspects then all you need is the equipment.
I do recommend that you sit in a couple of video depos before you start going solo.
I think NCRA offers a certification program called CVLS? not sure.

Hope this helped.

Good morning, Jill. My name is Pam. I'm a court reporter in Lafayette, LA, and I'm looking for a typist. I have Procat, voice recognition, but I hardly ever use it because it never comes out right.
I have two typists working for me now, but I'm always looking for more!
