I think that's so great that you're a CART provider. May I ask you, did you do CART work while you were in school? If so, what speed did you start? And would you recommend that I as a court reporting student do the same?
Some people say doing CART while still in school is a great way to build your dictionary, get work experience, provide your steno skills to your student, and get a good hourly rate. But then there are others who say that doing CART while still in school may hamper your progress with school, especially in not writing everything verbatim. I believe I heard somewhere that when you do CART, live note, or closed captioning you don't need to get everything down verbatim -- just the gist of it all, so the audience knows what's being said.
What's your position on this? Do you think it's a bad idea or a good idea to try CART while still in school?
I'm at 160, almost at 180 (one more test to go). Some people in my school already do CART at a local college, but they're at 180 almost at 200.
I'd love to know your thoughts! Thanks in advance!
