finger movements and the * key

Hi, all:) I just have been on a blog craze lately, I guess.

I have mentioned in earlier blogs that I am not at all familiar with using the * key for anything other than deletion. Therefore, trying to work Mark's theory into mine, I don't understand how you are supposed to make some of the reaches. For an example:

before he didn't = BR*ERMS --> you're pointer fingers are already on letters (the R- and the -R), so how are you supposed to reach over and hit the * too? What finger is supposed to be doing that? I don't understand.

Are your vowels on the same level as the rest of the keys or are they placed like a traditional machine? Also, I read just a tiny bit about it and I see there's not backup system incorporated into the writer. I'm not sure if I'm comfortable with that. But the writer looks awesome. I am actually going to try one out hopefully next week when I meet up with Rhoda Collins!

So that is why the LS is a great writer? Because everything is all on the same level

You can order the wide keys. Stenograph sales them. I'm assuming they can work on any machine. I don't think you would have a hard time getting used to it, but then again when I was in school my school taught with the wide keys so I've never written on a machine without them.

that kind of sucks, seems how I don't have a wide * key. Now what do I do, get a new machine??

You're supposed to get a wide right asterisk and then put your right index on the crack.
If it helps, I think he suggests to hit the * with your right hand only.
