Shawn, I can see you haven't been on this site in ages! It says last on: unknown! Drop me a line if you get this. It's spring - things should be better!

Shawn, Where are you? What's happening? Any CRR plans? I'm testing out the Gemini Grand. Want to know how I feel about it???

Okay, Shawn - what's the latest with the Rev??? I know you returned the LS, but I'm giving it a try. I hope to get it tomorrow or Tuesday.

Shawn, I spied your picture pop on, clicked to send you a quick message and saw that you had wrote me four minutes before! Yes, I found out a little more about my friend's Rev today. She is having issues with the tablet, and Jason will be monitoring that soon. The GOOD news is that she says the Rev is writing well for her - or she is writing well on it! Here's a quote from her, "I'm still trying to get the stroke a little shorter and softer, but I'm doing very well with it the way it is."

If you email me at jenlug@pacbell.net, I'll send you off some CRR tips I wrote after I took the test. BTW, I HAVE to get -and I do - a weekly massage just to stay in business. More later, Jenny

I forgot to say thank you for my CRR congratulations. It was a big effort on my part as I had to go back and get my RPR. I notice you have your RPR. Have you tried for your CRR yet? I wanted to get it because I may move one of these days and wanted to have an edge. I simply cannot tolerate a full day of reporting anymore so I need all the extras I can get. Of course, I'm hoping with the Rev I may be able to report for a longer amount of time. If you're going to shoot for the CRR, I have some tips for you.

Shawn,

I dictated a nice long chatty message to you yesterday, but when I got to the end and said my name, my cursor jumped out of your box and went to my own page. That's what I get for dictating directly into the comment box instead of using Dragon's dictation box. Never again.

Anyway, what I was blabbing about was the fact that I had not heard from my friend regarding the Revolution, but late last night she did e-mail me. Unfortunately, the news was not great. She's been having some trouble with the tablet. She has been sick with a cold as well so she has not been able to use it like she had planned - yet. When I hear more from her, I will let you know.

Shawn, I just got back from an afternoon depo so I'll chat some more when I regain some strength. I have a very long - hour or a bit more - drive out to depos. Tonight was extra hard as it was very foggy in patches. Have you been to the CA redwoods? Big Basin is real close to me. Anyway, I have a friend who got the Rev a few weeks ago, but she is so overworked right now she's not reporting back to me on any specifics. The minute I hear from her - negative or positive - I'll rush over here and share!

I agree with you - Eclipse rules!

Yeah, that's it for me on the LS. Shipped it back yesterday. I figured I could sink another couple weeks into it, and then still send it away. Guess I should have called the first for an RSA # or something, but didn't say anything about that on their site regarding the trial period. Guess I didn't want to be talked into giving it more time, not that they would have tried to convince me. Well, the Revo. is sounding much improved and maybe the one for me. Thanks so much for all your discussion. One reporter had commented that it was still a bit noisy in the beginning because of some design with the plastic or something that they were resolving. Yours must have been after they made that change. Guess it was when one would quickly lift off multiple keys when things got fast. I think it will be an improvement over my Cybra, though, which has always seemed like a clunky manual machine to me personally. My Stentura used to get loud, so I had figured out how to oil it on my own. Had that baby smoooooth, so guess I was a bit spoiled after figuring out how to tweak it.

Doing e-mails on the machine? Now you're getting techy:)

Was wondering what your experiences were with the offline captioning, what the protocol was and compensation. I'm currently doing offline transcription for another company doing realtime. Guess they utilize the time stamps to synch to video presentations.

Thanks for keeping us posted on the Revo developments.

LOL on exchanging...a cool thought, but could not give mine up. ;) Do you feel you gave the LS enough time?? NOT to deter you from a Gemini, lol.

Yes, the keys are SO quiet now! Heck tho, I have sat in on jobs w/other CRs and their 8000's and other machines seemed louder than my Gemini2. The MIra was the quiet one. But yes, this one is SO much quieter!

The only time I ever had issues with the jumble was when Case froze and I reopened a file. It was the 'first' stroke that was jumbled. Once it connected to Case I had no issues. I have more times that Case froze/caused issues than my machine did...if ever! I used a cable connection - USB/serial cable - and never had issues of communication. I always used my laptop, as I cannot take the PDA into Parole Boards. So I eventually just started using that as a PDA, lol, in my purse and not for my machine.

I never had power issues, but always used the cables and not battery/etc. Maybe that is something??

I worked from home doing offline captioning for a bit, and I would sit on my recliner with my G2 on my lap and write, lol. VERY comfy! ;) Didn't use the tripod, just had the machine on its holder. I still do that when I use my machine to do emails and such too.

Hi, Rhoda. All still going well with the Revo?
***Yes, I am still enjoying it.

I'm sitting on the fence about ordering one. I've been on a trial with the Lightspeed for a few weeks. It's improved from when I first got it, but I think it just may not be right for me. Just not enough key travel for me. I'm okay when things are slow, but when it gets fast, that's when it seems to be an issue. Guess I may be in the minority, since so many are raving about it.
***I would love to test that one too, lol. Seems we all are searching for the perfect machine!

The ergo benefits are what interest me about the Revo. There were just so many complaints about Geminis on the past models up to the Piper that I was leery.
***I have the Gemini2 and have actually loved it. Started during school around 120WPM tho, so maybe that helped me??? I think the keyboard got 'broken' in too?? I have NO real stacking with that machine, just 'my' writing problems. Is kind of hard moving to such a light touch.

Does the Revo seem to be better quality?
***Yes. The holder for the tablet is better than the PDA holder I had on my Gemini2. The machine holder/adjuster knobs are MUCH nicer and easier to control and adjust and they stay locked MUCH better on machine position. I rest mine on my lap tho, so that issue really never bothered me.

You stated stacking didn't seem to be a major issue?
***So far, that I notice. I have not gotten too far into editing my transcripts where I have used it, as I had older transcripts to get done, lol. I should have more thoughts later. But, again, I think going to the light touch is very strange!! I think it will take time for me to decide which keys I 'need' to adjust/etc, KWIM?? I know my job yesterday I felt really good about. It is very clean. They only talked around 180 tho, lol. I would vote on the faster talkers/more stacking as your fingers may not be 'leaving' the keys quick enough. I 'barely' had to touch my E for it to appear!! I adjusted that one fast, lol. I did have that issue on my Gemini2 tho...that dang E!

Is the keyboard action a big improvement over your squared model?
***Hmmm, Again, I think I had my G2 so broken in, I loved my keyboard. I even bought the separate 'new' keyboard when the Piper came out; got it and put it on and took it off w/in a day!! It did NOT write better, lol. I think the G2 had a different space on it for the keyboard, as it seemed awful tight, too. I am still trying to get used to the light touch.

Sorry so many Q's. I just don't want to get it and be disappointed as I was with the LS. Those darn restocking fees are gonna kill me!
***I am at the point that these machines are all a 'personal' thing. And they all take a LOT of getting used to. I think Gemini used to quote 14 days or something to get used to it?? And that would be daily writing, I believe. That LS looks very cool tho! I wish they would allow trial periods of the Gemini again, but they had too many people NOT return them! Can you believe that?? Hmm, after doing Parole Boards I 'can' believe that, lol.

I'm currently on a Cybra after being on a Stentura 8000.
Hope all went well on Day 3.
Shawn

***Ask me anything. I am trying to explain how it is going, but feel I am not 'telling' all I could, lol. I may copy/paste this talk into my blog too. I love the ergonomics so will be giving the Rev a long period of time to get used to. Just that touch is probably the hardest, lol. I can vote with others that it 'is' the person and not necesarily the 'machine' as was brought up in a discussion about the Myra that I read. There just needs to be an easy way for people to 'figure out' what keys they 'need' to adjust, as when you stack there is a jumble of keys....and you have to figure out which 'one' or 'two' or more keys you want to 'adjust'. But, to me, that should come as I write more and see the same stuff coming up?? Or what I am hoping, lol!
