How can I find a scopist who has a handle on dictionary management skills, who's not looking for a higher page rate than I currently get. I need one and I'm getting rates for almost half of what I make!

What do you mean when you say dictionary management skills? That's what you need to tell scopists that you're looking for.

There have been several classified ads regarding Eclipse scopists. Contact one of them and "interview" them to find out if they have the skills you need. IF they seem a good match, send them a small sample.

IF they are charging too much, tell them what you're willing to pay. Maybe you can negotiate something. Of course, this is also dependent on whether you are a good writer. If you are blowing chunks, then they might want to charge you more.

IF they do a horrible job, then you might not want to use them. You're not signing a contract. You can send them work or not. You've just got to let them know what you want.
Hi Danielle,

I have a fantastic scopist!! I'm not sure where you're located, but she can transfer files via Internet. Her name is Bonnie B. and she's on here. Can you do a search? if not, ping me back and I'll give you her email address. She is really a hard worker, has GREAT attention to detail. And I think she'll work with you on the page rate. I am biased because we've been friends for 100 years, but she has other references besides me and they all agree: She's fantastic!

Good luck.
Stephanie

I'll take a guess and say maybe you're in a criminal courtroom. I am an official in Calif. I think it depends on your translate rate. I just started scoping and will help you if you need helps. I am in a low transcript courtroom and have a daughter off in college and just started scoping. Contact me if you need help. I will charge $1 to $1.25 a page.
