Shellac nail polish

On Courtreportersite.com Jennie posted information about Shellac nail polish.  I just tried it.  I've had it on since Friday.  It can last 2 to 3 weeks.  So far, no chips.  It looks like the day I had it put on.  I have not written on my machine yet so I'm interested to see how it holds up to that.  I'm hoping it will stay on.  It's so nice to have on polish.

Yeah, call me when you have time.  I saw you needed some help on your software.  There are some people on this site that use that software.  There's a search box in the upper right-hand corner and you can plug your software name in and search for those people and maybe they can help you with your question.

Oh, the cost, I totally relate to what you're saying.  This is only my third manicure in my life.  I have to say I think it's worth it b/c it lasts so long.  I am enjoying having my hands look nice.  It gives me a little boost.  Let me know if it can be done at home.  I know you would have to purchase the UV light b/c that's how they dry your nails.

The thing is, the manicurist shaped my nails so well.  I can't do it like she did.  And my cuticles now look so much better. :-)

What the heck is this Shellac nail polish and nails?  I have acrylics on.  I'm always interested in different types of cosmetics.  Can you buy this stuff in the store?

Carrie, it is a polish that they put on and they cure it with a UV light and it dries in minutes.  It stays on for approximately two weeks.  I have used it for the second time and I just made it two weeks and it looks great.  Some people get three weeks out of it.  OPI has a line also. The first time I used it I got two weeks out of it but my hands were in dishwater a lot.  I bought some gloves and I think it will last three weeks this time.

My second time with Shellac lasted one day short of 3 weeks.  I had one tiny chip that happened about a week in.  That chip was b/c of my new puppy who wants to bite everything.  Actually he is the reason I had to get them redone in just short of three weeks.  His tooth caught on one of my nails and pulled off the polish.

I went to a less expensive place this time and I was daring.  I now have candy apple red polish.  If I didn't say it earlier, this polish is helping my nails grow longer too.  It makes them stronger when I have this polish on.

I have been doing the gel /shellac nails for a year. After having some rare bad experiences, I found that those are related to the technique of the technician. I really like the shellac and right now I am going  17 days since my last manicure.

Well, here's an update on gel polish.

I am now doing it myself at home.  The brand I am using is called "Red Carpet."  You can purchase it at Ulta.  I really like the color choices.  I bought a light so I could cure my polish.

I find this works better for me than going to get the manicure b/c if I get a chip or one of my nails starts to "lift" I can redo it myself and keep in going.

Also, if I want to change my color after a week, I don't feel bad about doing that b/c I didn't pay for an expensive manicure.  My nails have never looked so nice.  I have had to purchase keypads for my writer b/c my nails actually get long now.  I do trim them but b/c of the polish they grow.  I don't want to be clicking at depos.

Janiece, I've been getting this done professionally and the lady that does my nails says I come in once a month now.  It doesn't seem like that long, but I guess it is.  I do, however, file them down myself by the third week because my jobs are so fast and intense I can't have very long nails at all.  I do love them, though.  They make me feel very feminine.  When you get into your late 40s and 50s that becomes pretty important.
