If you have Mira issues, post them here.

I'm sorry I don't have an answer for you, Michele.  I wish someone would tell me once and for all that there was a cure for stacking on the A3.  I'm going bonkers with the amount of time it takes me to edit even small jobs due to it.  My tran rate has suffered tremendously.  Yikes!  There has to be a miracle worker out here someplace.

You should switch to the Diamante because the stacking issue is way, way less.  I do remember the stacking issue on the Mira.  By far, the best writer out there is the Diamante.  I have two of them.

Thanks, Kelli, but it's just not in this year's budget.  I'm still trying to recoup from the "bad years".  I've been working steady the past six weeks, but I'm not quite there yet.

Thanks again!

Tricia, have you tried adjusting the keyboard tension adjustment wheel?  I've been playing around with that one and while it's not perfect -- I still have stacks with my final stroke and then a Q bank -- it's better than it was.

You also might try adjusting the depth of your stroke.

There is a sweet spot for all of these adjustments, and when you hit it it's golden.  But, alas, it doesn't last for long.

Judy, I did and it became worse.  I'm going to have to really sit down and fool with it over the long weekend.  I think Glen said that OTEC in Oregon or Washington can fix the keys from stacking.  I'm going to give them a call.  Between Christmas and New Year's seems to be the best time to send it in -- it's always dead that week.  Thanks for replying.  I'll let you know how I make out this weekend.

When I used my Mira, the only time it got really bad is if the job was fast and furious and then it would stack all over the place.  On regular jobs, it was relatively manageable.  I know all writers are different, though.

I'm having splitting problems now with my new Diamante instead of stacking.  Seems to be one issue or the other, I tell ya!!

Kelli,

I've come to the conclusion that Stenograph does not know how to manufacture a writer.  I didn't know what stacking was when I was on my Xscribe Ultra.  Then I got a Stentura, and I found out fast and furious what stacking was.  It's maddening.  I don't know about the ProCat writer issues or if there are any, and the LS is not a machine I could work with.  So I'll be left to continually adjusting the keys on the Mira until I can get another machine.  Such is life!

Friends that have the A2 don't seem to have the problem.  So why was it a big deal for them to just add the audio in the A3 that affected the keys?  Go figure!

My local steno repair ninja, Alan Dyer, has developed a procedure to repair the "stuttering Mira" problem.

He's the only person that can fix the issue, and he's keeping the method top secret ...!

His website is here:

http://www.oteconline.com

He's probably got an idea or two on how to format the SD cards as well.
Good luck!
