My "yes" stroke come out "why he" sometimes too.  I've tried defining that as "yes" in my dictionary, but that doesn't fix it!  :(

One more year to pay on Diamante and, although I have come to like it well enough, I am going to buy something else this time next year.

Janet, I have that problem with my Diamante all the time.  I get three and four strokes in one and also Y/E split for yes, and sometimes one stroke is split into three.

If I adjust the splitting down, it stacks worse.  If I adjust the stacking down, it splits worse.  No happy medium.

I may call them this week since I'm off work to see if they have any suggestions.  It's frustrating in RT when I know I hit the stroke correctly and the stroke is split in two or three.

I just recently sent my Diamante in for an adjustment.  The loaner was sent right away.  I must say I could not wait to get my Diamante back.  I couldn't get the right balance on the loaner.  It was either stacking or splitting.  In one instance, I got "being why he" for "yes."   It also had the follow-on strokes.  For example, the question mark, STPH, followed by STH.  It did it on the answer and comma strokes too.  That's something I've had with my Diamante, but not like this one.  I've never had that happen on any other writer.

Where do you keep the wheels set?   I have both of mine all the way forward.

I got mine back within a week, and I'm thrilled to have it back.  It's working great.

Mary Ann, I have sent my Mira in for service and I personally felt like Stenograph didn't fix anytyhing.  When I got the machine back (btw, brand new writer) it was worse than when I sent it in.  I finally just ended up keeping the loaner because it worked better than my writer after they sent it back.  It literally would stack ten or more strokes in one line.  Pretty scary.  They made me feel like I was crazy and exaggerating.

I wish you the best of luck sending your machine in.  I am sure you have read many posts about Stenograph's customer service.   You are on the same forums I am on and not too many people are all that happy with their service.    Maybe you can fix it on your own with a little tweaking first before sending it in?

Hi, everyone! I'm at our vacation cabin in Pennsylvania for some R&R. I dragged the machine out the other day just for the heck of it, and darn it, every stroke I made dragged the left-hand T key down. I could see it moving down with every stroke, and of course every stroke had the T in it. Grrr. I love the Diamante! So I played around with it, blew out all the dust and everything. It eventually stopped doing that. Now here's my question: What's you-all's experience with Stenograph repair services, if I HAVE to send it in? I've got the loaner program and they'll send me one if I need it, but I'm just wondering what your experience has been. Thanks!

Great idea.  Why didn't I think of that?

Hi, Kelli.

Maybe you should put a link to this group in your "Stuck With a Writer" thread!

We need some more members.  Maybe we all can help each other out and troubleshoot our problems.
