Joseph Leone sent this to me personally.  I don't think he meant to do that.  I'm posting it for him because I think it's an important discussion for all my members.  Very concerning to say the least.

I stumbled across a job solicitation on Indeed.com by way of Craigslist.com (Long Island, NY)

Seems there is an entity located in East Islip, NY, advertising jobs for court reporter notaries to conduct digital recording depositions throughout the metropolitan NYC area.  It was posted by someone by the name of Karen Koster, I think, don't remember the last name clearly.

Starting pay 36K a year -- a little bit more than a barista at Starbucks.  I have not been able to track down any more info other than the job posting.  I don't know if Indeed is just an info gathering mill, kinda the NSA of internet want ads or not but that's what I found.  Very disturbing.  I sent in an "interested" reply.  Haven't heard anything back.

If anyone out there is in contact with NYSCRA they may be interested or even Dom Tursi may like to look into it.

I will try to find out more.  Thought someone out here may be able to find out more than I have been able to find out.

Kelli, would you post a link to the craigslist ad. Thx.

It sure is disturbing.  But it's NY, so nothing surprises me.  We can continue to pray that these low-level uncertified, and mostly unaffiliated people do horrible work.

Here's something I got via email.  What surprised me is the reference to New York.

Hi Mary:

Thank you,

AJ and the Work Market Team

This is not my post, so I don't know where the Craigslist post actually is.  Joseph posted this.  Maybe he'll see this and post it.

Free training and equipment supplied. Travel costs reimbursed.

Sounds like an ad placed by a school; or worse, a temp agency trying to get a foothold into another job market.

Considering in most places anyone and everyone can own a court reporting service, with little to no regulation, wouldn't surprise me.
