Well, I guess this is a corollary to the gas discussion. Now that gas prices have gone up so much, are you going to be taking a vacation this year?

Where are you going? Are you going to be driving? Are you scaling back plans bec. of gas prices?

My husband goes on business trips a lot, and I'm thinking I'm going to try and go with him on one of his trips. At least that will cover the hotel room and his fly will be reimbursed by the company.

We've also got a certificate for a timeshare I'd like to use. We usually go to Hawaii, but what with plane tix prices, we might just end up in Palm Springs.

What about you?

I'm going to the Jersey Shore for my sister's 50th birthday party. Surprisingly, the plane ticket wasn't all that much, same as usual, but I bought it a while back. My sister is driving me around so I don't have to rent a car there.
I'm taking three weeks off in July.
Greetings:

I am going to the Shetland Islands (as in ponies!) where I will participate in a program called the Shetland Fiddle Frenzy. The islands are located roughly halfway between the northernmost point of mainland Scotland and Norway.

I play Celtic fiddle, mostly the Scottish styles. Shetland fiddling is a particularly distinctive style, strongly influenced by the Scandinavian traditions. I have been trying to learn as much as I could about playing it for about six years now. This August, I will have my chance to study with, listen to, play with the masters of this genre while basking in the beautiful northern islands!

I fly off for a few days in London on July 29th. I plan to attend the Eastbourne Lammas Festival near London, then fly north to Shetland, then home on August 11th.

Blessings, Cathryn
Cathryn, Do you have a suitcase big enough for me to stow away in so I can tag along on your vacation? It sounds like a wonderful trip.

I am flying to LA the end of June to spend eight days there, I will be attending the American Library Association Conference, and gathering up as many free books, pens, pencils, canvas bags, and other gadgets as possible. I will also be going to Disney and will be there for July 4th fireworks. We have rented a house less than two miles from Disney which has a hot tub and swimming pool, so hopefully I will come back with a tan. We are coming back by train and taking a side trip to the Grand Canyon. We will be getting off the train at Chicago and I will be attending Anita Paul's realtime seminar. Basically I think I will be coming home in need of another vacation.

Greetings:

Actually, your vacation sounds like a lot of fun -- and a lot less planning and arranging than mine is!

Blessings, Cathryn
Wow!! They both sound awesome. And I can't imagine taking that much time off. Wonderful.
I am still in school and attend SimplySteno so I am going to be taking my machine and homework with during my vacation. It might be a touch of a challegne to practice on the train but one I am up to taking.
Anita Paul's seminar will be more training along with a vacation. I do have plans for seeing some of Chicago nightlife though.
