Healthy Snacking Favorites?

What are some of your favorite healthy snacks? I’m pretty good at meals, but snacking always gets me! I’m more likely to stay on track if I have easy items that I can grab and go. My usual favorite…Continue

I've suffered an ear infection, acne, white patches on skin, a wound that wouldn't heal, sickness that would last for a month, and ADHD. Once I started reducing the junk, all of those problems went away. As a proofreader, this is important because I am actually able to concentrate on proofreading. This used to be impossible, but changing my diet has made the impossible possible.

That's wonderful, Janiece.  Maybe that's why I love blueberries so much.  They're delicious and help calm everything down.

My mom has high blood pressure, just a little high, but is on BP medicine.  She has modified her diet and the BP has gone down.  The doctor is going to lower her dose of medicine and she may be able to get off of the medication.  All my mom did was to Google what foods help lower blood pressure.  She printed out the list and increased those foods in her diet.

I've been trying to get my family to eat healthier, and we've had a lot of success replacing carbs with cauliflower. Cauliflower rice, mashed cauliflower, and chopped up florets are easy to season or dress up. I add it to casseroles, serve meat/veggies over it, or use it as a side. And my kids don't seem to notice the difference! (And they are not the easiest to please.)

Hi! I'm so glad I found this group! I have always been interested in health, but it's not always a priority. I have to eat a gluten-free diet because I am sensitive to gluten, so my family eats a lot of gluten-free foods as well. I'm also still trying to lose the last few pounds of baby weight that don't want to go away! Hoping to find some good ideas here. :)

Hello! I'm Dawn and mom of six young people. I didn't think much of healthy eating until my first little one was born. I wanted her to be healthy so started learning and researching. I stepped up my game when my fourth child was diagnosed with leukemia at four. My children still recount how I fed them applesauce with "green powder stuff" in it. I've since learned about essential oils and use those also. Oh, and I also make my own kefir. If anyone is interested in kefir, I highly recommend it. I've found it much easier to make than yogurt. Most of my children have my interest and love of eating healthy. My daughter will often make smoothies for everyone using my kefir mixed with berries and some other things. Thank you for creating this group. Have a great evening.

Hi! I am new to this group. I have been a health nut for as long as I can remember! I have seen too many fad diets come and go. Is there any one healthy habit or food item that you have stuck with for years on end? I make sure I do at least 30 minutes of activity every day, even if it is simply a walk with my dog. I also start each morning with a glass of water with either lemon or apple cider vinegar. What is your one healthy daily habit?

This may have been posted before, but I try to take a tablespoon of elderberry syrup every day to keep from getting sick. You can buy it at health food stores, or you can make your own, which is what I do. Here's the recipe I use: http://wellnessmama.com/1888/elderberry-syrup/

I just started my New Year's diet.  What always works for me is "Juicing" with tons of vegetables and throw in some fruit, a apple or peaches, for some sweet taste.  I've been on this diet a week and have not lost any weight yet.  Ugh.  I'm not giving up, though.  Kale, here I come!!!

Welcome, Mary Ann, to the group.  I just got back from hiking in New Zealand and two of the hikers in one of our groups were both celiacs. Very interesting.  I learned a lot from them.  The chefs accommodated their food needs very well.  I think there are a lot of you out there.

Hi, everyone. :) I just found this group, what a great idea! I'm one of those people with so many food sensitivities that I say I come with an instruction booklet.  I have celiac, lactose intolerance, soy and egg allergies, and then when you add into it that I have Addison's, well, what I eat is a matter of constant vigilance. I'm also a cancer survivor, and of course that and the treatment wreaked havoc on my skin and hair for a while. So this is a subject of interest to me on a healing and maintenance level, for sure. I'm looking forward to perusing the posts here and seeing what others have to share.
