My wife and I are videographers. I feel like there may not be a more sedentary job out there. We watched the Joe Cross "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead" movie last July. We have been juicing ever since. My wife has lost almost 30 pounds. I have lost around 20. We use a Vitamix so we have to drink lots of water. We juice for breakfast and lunch and have a large salad and a small portion of the main meal with our kids for supper. We dont get sick anymore and feel great! We bring our juice to deps which has become quite the conversation piece with court reporters and attorneys.

I didn't know that about plastic bottles, but it makes sense.  And I use my own bags for stores.  I don't think I've brought home a plastic bag for at least a year, maybe two.

What type of juicer do your commend and what do you juice?  Where do you get recipes?

Oh, yeah, watch the documentary "Tapped" and you will never buy a plastic water bottle again.  I watched that movie over a year ago and I have a metal water bottle and I fill it often with filtered water from the sink.

Seriously, if you don't watch these documentaries, there is really no way to know this stuff.  Watched the movie "Bag It" last night.  It is about all the plastic bags floating around in the sea and elsewhere.  They never degrade or go away.  Do you have any concept how many of them are on this earth?  It is mind boggling.

California tried to ban plastic bags in stores and they got sued by the plastics companies because they make $$$ from plastic.  Really very interesting if you just want to know what is going on around us, watch these documentaries sometime.  It has really opened my eyes to how much each of us can make a difference by just trying to not use so much plastic.

All the Recology recycled plastic they don't use gets shipped to China and the over-worked/under-paid workers sift through all that crap trying to salvage some of the plastic they can burn down and make into something else I guess.  I was wondering what happens to the rest of the plastic?  Is that what is floating now at sea?  The movie never really said.

Anyway, I'm not nuts but just have lots of questions.

I think I told you about a year ago, after I watched "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead" I literally lost 20 pounds.  I've kept about 12 of it off and I juice probably 5 days a week.  I eat nothing white.  I've been on this diet for the last year.

I saw a videographer today that I have not worked with in seven years.  He goes, "Kelli, you look exactly the same.  I haven't worked with you in so long.  You look great.  What are you doing?"

I eat tons of fruits and vegetables.  I try to make most of them raw if possible because that's where all the nutrients are.  Once you start on this diet and you start to see how your skin looks better and you feel better, plus you hear how bad most processed food is for you, you'll be glad you changed.

I am a true believer.  I am 46 and I bet I was told the other day I look 37.  Totally made my day.  I'm not trying to win any beauty contests or anything, but every woman likes to know they don't look their age.  Taking care of yourself with just eating the right foods (raw mostly) can make a huge difference.

Chris, my husband, is doing this diet with me and he's lost about 10 pounds over the past year.  He didn't even need to lose weight; it just happens eating this way.

autoimmune skin disorder called chronic urticaria, also known as hives.

They were both on heavy doses of medication.  I think they both were on other kinds of medicines.  The trucker had heart problems.  They got him off of almost all his medicines.

Kelli did a juicing diet for a while.

What kind of condition did they suffer from?

Judy,

You can get a lot of information from an interesting documentary called "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead."  I streamed it on Netflix.  The guy is now advertising juicers on TV.  He had a condition that he cured by juicing.  He went across the United States talking to people while he was doing it.  He met a trucker who had the same condition.  The trucker started juicing too and both of them lost a ton of weight and got off of almost all of their medications.  It's very interesting.

Tell me about juicing and why it's good for you/me, please.

I tell ya, "growing up" I always thought those women that complained about weight gain at menopause just didn't know how to control their food intake.  So not so!  Two years and 10 pounds later, I'd like to get my act together before I have to go up yet another pant size.

OMG, I too am an egg person.  Sigh.....

Yipeeee - we have seven members that have joined.

Does anyone do "juicing" on a regular basis?  I've really gotten into it lately.
