Well, work is winding down so I'm actually having some time to watch TV at night.  Last night I started watching Downton Abbey.  It's a series that is currently on PBS.  I think it's in season 3 on TV.  I am starting from episode 1 and streaming it on Netflix.  OMG, it's really good.  It's a total thumbs up.  How about you?  Have you seen anything you would like to share?

Hi, Lorraine!

I read something interesting about all of this "new TV" stuff that's going on (Netflix-only shows, etc.).

These are virtually *forcing* the mainstream networks to put on better content during the summer, instead of relying on reruns and sports to carry them through the summer.  That's how "Under the Dome" got on the air.  Stephen King is acting as executive producer, with backing by Steven Speilberg ... no network suit in his/her right mind would have turned down this duo.

My daughter starts the new Downton Abbey series in January with a "Downton Abbey" party.  We make scones, have fancy teas, etc. and watch the new series.  We also try to dress for the period.   It's great fun.

Oh, that's great, Phyllis.  That series is not long enough for me.  It's a sad day at my house when the season finale airs, LOL.

I'm now watching "The White Queen" on Stars.  I like it.

Never heard of that one.  What's it about?

The new season of Breaking Bad started on AMC Sunday nights.  I heard this is the last season.

Hi, Janet, I am watching Breaking Bad.  It is so good.  I'm so sad it is ending.

I'll be sorry to see it end too.  It's such an intense show.  There's a whole new dimension to the show now with Hank knowing. ;)

I know.  I can't believe how good the writing is on that show.  I honestly could go back and watch it again from the beginning.  I'm watching the show they have that is replacing it (if that is possible).  It is called Low Winter Sun and I think it's really good.

I don't understand why the major networks don't get some shows of this quality.  I watch very little on the CBS, ABC and NBC.

I know I'm a year behind, but I'm not going to movie theaters much anymore.  I prefer to watch movies when they come out on cable or on Netflix so I can watch them at home.  With a big flat screen TV, why not?

So I just watched Men In Black III last night.  I thought it was really good.  It had a good story line.  Downton Abbey will be starting in January.  I can't wait.  There looks to be a good series on Stars about Pirates.

Janiece, you sound like my husband.  We bought this huge flatscreen, 65 inches, and my husband doesn't want to go to the movies anymore either.  It is nice to watch movies at home but I do like to go to the theater every once in a while too.  I haven't been in a long time either.

I know, Kelli.  I used to be an avid movie goer.  Now I like staying home because I can hang out with my animals too.  I have had bad experiences at the movie theater:  crying babies, people talking on the phone during the movie, tall people I can't see over....  :-)
