Anybody have the Diamante and use the wide asterisk key(s)? -- Got the loaner today . . .

I finally broke down and got the Diamante.  The Lunar White is NOT like the Lexus white (which I imagined would be a metallic or pearly white) like the sales rep said.  Pfffft!!!  As someone very aptly put it, it looks like a [cheap] toaster.  It seems more trouble than its worth to exchange it for a different color.

 

Anyway, I use the wide (right) asterisk keys and the wide -DZ keys.  On my FlashWriter, this was perfect; they were closely set.  On the Diamante, the gap/spacing between the wide asterisk key(s) and the -FR keys are like the regular spacing of all the other keys, in other words, not close enough for me, and I am not hitting the asterisk key when I want to.  My index finger falls between the gap.  This is incredibly annoying since I have to pay particular attention and make an extra effort so that I can make sure to hit the asterisk.  I use the asterisk A LOT, so if there is nothing Stenograph will do for me, I might have to throw the d-mn thing out the window.  Anyone else have this problem?  If you do, did Stenograph do anything to fix it for you?

 

I sent the sales rep an e-mail asking for a fix, so I'm waiting to hear back.  Just wondering if this is an issue for anyone else.

BTW, kudos to ProCAT, though: they are giving me a free loaner Stylus during this period of waiting for the Impression. It should arrive on Monday!

STILL haven't heard back from the Stenograph sale rep.  I'm not surprised, though.  I guess, until I hear back from him, I've got a hostage loaner, looks brand new, although this one looks like a cheap gray toaster.

 

Never even heard of the Impression.  I almost went with the Stylus.  The damn bluetooth on the Diamante doesn't even work with my laptop, so I still have to wire up, wtf.  Grrrrr!  I should've known better than to have anything to do with Stenograph.  NEVER again.

The Impression is their newest but hasn't actually been made yet, I think. I was told they'll start shipping next month. Fingers crossed. I don't usually like to buy new machines, but I was a sucker at the convention. Sorry about your SG troubles. I've felt that way in the past too. :|

What writer do you have now? I don't mean the Stylus loaner, but the machine you are "upgrading" from.

It does look like more of a space than mine.  Also, the keypads I use leave little black fuzz of rubber all over my writer all the time.  That's why it looks so dirty.  Yours is nice and clean.  I like the gray keypads.  Where did you get those?

Looks like you either have the felt or rubber keypad, Kel.  I have the [p]leather ones.  Got them from Stenograph (ugh) the same time I ordered my writer. I think they're around 25 bucks.  They have a plum set, too, and if/when these wear out, I'm going to get those just fer fun.  :)  I do get a bit of fuzz in my machine, too, but it's not as bad as when I had the rubber pads.  Mine just doesn't show as much, because the grey color of the keypads blends in with the [cheap] white toaster a little bit better.
