Buying new computer, having trouble finding one that RECORDS AUDIOSYNC WELL

My current Toshiba Tecra is starting to wear out. It is 5 years old. I have bought an HP and had Windows XP loaded on. The audio is good quality but not very loud. The supplier I am working with sells to a lot of court reporters and has had problems with the audio on the current models of Toshiba and steered me to HP. Any suggestions? I am on Case Catalyst. I have 15 days to decide whether I'm going to keep the HP.
Thanks for any input.

For ThinkPad lovers (the only laptop I’ve ever had; I’m currently on my 5th), do some price checking and then call this guy to see what he has:

He's a retired IBMer, who has great (legitimate) sources of new and slightly used ThinkPads, all with Lenovo warranties which can and should be verified with Lenovo prior to buying, which he upgrades and sells a few on eBay but mostly privately since that gives him the ability to work with the potential buyer and suggest units and alternatives. I am using a T61 now that I bought from him. You get a lot more for your money with Bob than anywhere else. Mine came with only 8 months left on the warranty, so I bought a 2-year extended warranty from Lenovo for $129.

I use Catalyst and get excellent audiosynch.

You can't go wrong with Bob. He's terrific and so knowledgeable.

Thanks for the tip.
I appreciate it.

Let us know how you do with Bob!
Both my Dell Inspiron and HP Pavilion record brilliantly.
Do you use an external mike and if so what kind?
My martel mike does not work well w/ this new HP computer.
Janiece
I use the mini-mic which I bought from SG.
Hey, Jeanese,
That is neat that we have the same name.
Thanks so much. I'm going to check out that web site today.
I use scopists a lot too. I started a few years ago and I'm so happy I did. I have my life back somewhat.
Thanks again!!!!!!!

Hi, Veronica,
Are you saying the sound on computers in general is notoriously bad or just HP computers???? The sound on this HP was good. It was very clear but just not as loud as I would like. I think I'm going to try the mike that Jeanese Johnson suggested. I have the $150 mike that has a battery that I bought from Martell Electronics. It worked well w/ my Toshiba Tecra but badly w/t the HP. A cheap mike w/ no battery sounded better w/t HP but just not loud enough for me.
Janiece
I have a Sony Vaio and I don't even have to plug in a mic.....the audio is loud and clear.
Thanks, Kelli,
I may return this HP. They seem to have the audio working pretty well now, but it deos not seem to want to turn off after I'm in Case Catalyst. What court reporting software do you use?
Janiece
