Does anyone know if it is difficult to get to the USA and work as a reporter?

Hi all.
I have a friend of mine (from Ireland) who is an RPR and would like to come to the States. I am just wondering if anyone has any experience in this or if it is close to impossible. If anyone knows of someone coming from another country, please let me know.
Thanks a million!

If she is an RPR (as I am), that means she took the test to be a registered professional reporter. When I took it, it was NSRA (National Shorthand Reporters Association). If that's who she got her RPR status from, I don't think there should be a problem. Florida has no requirements to be a court reporter. Does she need a Visa or anything to come to the United States?

Whatever state she wants to work in, she should check on that state's requirements for being a court reporter. That's easy enough to find out through the Internet.
Hi Mary Jo,
That's for your feedback. I was wondering about how they get into the country, but I think I have may have found some help! Thanks again!

I have sponsored two Irish women who eventually became US citizens and Court Reporters!! I don't see any reason why the Reporter from Ireland would have a problem here. I understand, sadly, that reporters are no longer used in the higher courts in Ireland where ER has taken hold. The Irish educational system is excellent and Irish reporters are a welcome addition to our profession.
Hi Anita,
That is such encouraging information! Thank you so much! Would you be able to give me any more details about sponsoring reporters? Is it a difficult thing to do? I'd love to hear your story, if you have time! Thanks a million!
Debbie
