Happy Black History Month! Have you heard of Dr. William Henry Davis?

Since it's Black History Month, I thought I'd share some info about the accomplished Dr. William Henry Davis.

He was born in Kentucky to former slaves, founded the Mott Night Business High School, and was appointed as a special assistant to the Secretary of War during the Woodrow Wilson administration. He was also the father of lawyer and activist John P. Davis.

He taught himself shorthand and typing (Wow!), and he later served as secretary to Mayor Todd of Louisville. He also taught shorthand and typing to black students, who were excluded from white segregated classes.

Oh, and he owned a shoe store. You can read more about Davis here.
