Conflicts and AI

has anyone created conflicts in their dictionary for punctuation to be used with AI? I have tried on two different instances and it doesnt work as well as a word conflict. I have a true conflict-free theory and had input one single conflict in my dictionary to compensate for the one major lapse my theory writer had and the AI works great for that word. But, with punctuation, I cant seem to make it work well. For example:
Is that correct - STHAKT
I would like to do ^ is that correct ^ ; is that correct
and I would like for the AI to know to use the first when its the beginning of a question and the 2nd when its at the end. I put it in, I wrote a few samples, chose the correct one and still, it doesnt work.
Anyone have any success with this?

What you need to do is in your translate options is to select EZ Choice and Second Choice for your conflict resolution. EZ Choice looks at the two words preceding the conflict and Second Choice looks at the words to the right and to the left of the conflict. Now, I can almost bet that in the conflict choice database that is locatedin your System Files case there are no conflict choices involving punctuation, so you'll have to build that part of the database by making choices which automatically go into those databases automatically. Over time, the database will grow and it will make the choice for you based on past choices you made. It's not true AI lik HAL 9000 from 2001: A Space Odyssey but works based off of choices you make.

I have all 3 choices selected in my EZ Choice and still, it doesnt work. Isn't it true that the only way to build your conflict choice database is by entering a conflict, writing a few sentences in different context with the conflict, and selecting the right one? Well, I tried to select but in this case, and in the other case where I tried to do a conflict with punctuation for A. Yes. and A. Yes, it has not worked. Maybe conflicts dont work as well with Q and A symbols?

I have had no success with that, so I use an asterisk in the phrase to appear without the semi-colon. Just had to change the way I wrote it.

Well, the last choice under the conflicts heading in your translate options automatically selectes the first conflict, so that could be one reason why the conflict resolution is not working. You could write a few sentences and do that, too, but I find that just editing accomplishes the same result. As far as Q and A I would say the conflict resolution does since it's text. Like I said, you'll have to build the database up before it becomes effective since the combinations of words, symbols, and/or both are so vast that you really need to do some editing of transcripts before you see results. Also, the conflict choices you make in one transcript will apply to the next transcript/realtime session and not the current one. Some CC users I've trained are under the impression that if you make a conflict choice in a transcript that the program resolves any similar situations in the current transcript.

Well, I spent over an hour on the phone with CC tech support tonight. I came out with no great resolution as it was tehnically their after hours, but still working hours support rep, but I did get some info regarding this.
First, Anthony, you keep saying build the conflict database up but I was unable to even open that file. Support explains that that file is not intended to be opened and cannot be opened in CC. How are you opening it to edit? He said that the conflict database gets built up from use and application of the conflict in context.
Second, it seems that CC EZ Conflicts isnt really intended for a Q. A. situation if the conflict is going to be the first thing after these symbols. Since the AI determines the conflict based upon the 2 words that are in front of the conflict, the Q & A sort of throws that off. I will be calling tech support tomorrow to see if they figures a way around this. (Also to suggest some updated number conversion options. haha)

Well, first of all, I never mentioned anything about opening the conflict database itself; I know that from personal experience and so I wouldn't give you that advice. What I meant -- I guess I wasn't clear enough -- was you build the conflict database by making conflict choices while editing, not opening the conflict database.

Secondly, I sent a message out to my fellow trainers regarding your issue since I was concerned about your situation and haven't from them. I'm glad you contacted tech support and got the answers you needed regarding this issue eventhough it took you an hour.

Also, I explained at the top of this thread how the conflict resolution works, but now I've learned that the Q & A "throws that off."
