I'm at a steno school that started teaching Phoenix three years ago.  I'm curious, are there any current student who are not learning Phoenix?  Are there other realtime theories out there besides Phoenix?

Yes, there are other theories out there. I learned Phoenix in 2007, but my school started teaching something else shortly after. I've since transferred schools and I believe my current school teaches StenEd theory.

I'm learning Roberts Walsh Gonzalez and it's very heavily realtime.

I am learning Computer Compatible Stenograph Theory published by Stenograph.  My teacher likes it because it is virtually conflict free from the very beginning which puts us on a good path for realtime.  It seems to be a great middle of the road theory in that it does present various arbs for common words and phrases but doesn't try to shorten absolutely everything like other theories do.  I am very happy with it and would recommend it to anyone!
