With Eclipse open, if you click on Help at the top file menu (not the question mark icon on the toolbar) and then choose Eclipse Documentation, there are two documents you can print out that will explain how editing from the writer works. One is "Eclipse Realtime Kit" and one is "Eclipse Realtime Kit Summary."
All the macros for editing from the writer are already built in to Eclipse, and all you need to do is tell it what your dictionary entry will be for the function that you want to carry out. The kit even gives you dictionary suggestions.
If you're just starting out with editing from the writer, I'd suggest you just pick a couple of macros to start out with. There are a lot to choose from, and it can be a little overwhelming looking at the big list, but I promise they're really simple to implement. And kind of like when you see your realtime coming up for the first time, it's super cool to be able to make corrections from your machine.
The macro you're looking for is probably "Brief 1 Word - RT."
Good luck, and woohoo for you for kicking your realtime up a notch!
