Hey Keith,

Hopefully you and others will be able to give me a few pointers once I start Theory next semester :-)

Hi, Shonda. Welcome to our forum! Not even started theory yet and already in here, huh? I am impressed! Such dedication will definitely serve you well in our program. Best of luck!

So true, Keith. Suzy, drills are a pain now, but the more you know your theory the better off you'll be. You may not like it part way through speedbuilding and change stuff. Lots of people do. But it is a very important foundation for everything to come. Keep up the hard work. It can be frustrating at times but the outcome is well worth it!

Sounds great, Suzy. Drilling can definitely be redundant, but it will also cement the proper outlines not only in your mind but in your fingers. The lab is always full for the first few weeks of the semester before everyone drops. We had about 40 in my class, and I think I am the only one left. It's like Survivor.

Hope everyone had a good first day back yesterday! A note for the 160-220 class: I'm pretty sure Marge will be teaching today (QA). See everyone later!

Carilyn,

I'm very sorry your father passed away. My deepest condolences. I don't have much experience or insight to give in dealing with grief. I think Gary's advice is sound though. Take the time you need and remember the good times. Know that he is in a better place where he feels no pain. We are all here for you. And we miss you too. Best wishes.

Carilyn,

I'm so sorry to hear that your father passed away.

It's Ok to cry, even in private.

As long as you are alive, you will remember him. In a sense, his spirit is still alive as long as you are; in certainly lives on in you in any case.

I'm sure he is looking out for you wherever he is now and is watching you.

He would want you to carry on; live life. Continue on, successfully, with your life.

It's hard. But that's life.

Give yourself a set amount of time if you need to in order to mourn and do what is needed in terms of what he has left behind that needs to be taken care of.

And then make him proud. Get back to your life.

And always remember him.

Hello friends,

I miss seeing everybody at school... My dad recently passed away, and I just survived giving the eulogy at his memorial service this morning without falling apart...

Anyone have suggestions/ advice on how to deal with grief?

thanks

carilyn
