Wow, you can tell how often I actually get onto this site! I should really try to get on here more often. It seems like a great site for support for court reporters! I noticed that one of your "friends' on here is a broadcast captioner. I'll have to pick her brain a little when I get a chance!
As far as the editing pay for off the machine, no, I do not get paid for that. That's a beautiful thing though! I wonder what her hourly rate is on the machine. I hate to ask people that...but I wonder if maybe her on the machine rate isn't as high as mine and that's why she gets paid to edit. It's certainly good to know though that that is a possibility!
How is school going for you? Don't get discouraged...I kind of plateaued at 160, but once you get past it, you'll cruise right on through. Take care!
Thanks for getting back to me! So glad you had some time off to go on vacation and R-E-L-A-X! Yes, one day I will vacation TOO! :) Thanks for that! Hehehe.
I do have another question for you about CART, thanks for asking. You said that one of the reasons you love doing CART is that there is little to no editing time when you come home after your job. Q: Is there another pay rate for your editing time off your machine? I talked to another CART provider (I think she was from Texas, but I'm not too sure), and she told me that they paid her an hourly rate for being on the machine and then another rate for editing (off her machine time). Do you have this? If so, is the editing pay rate much lower than the on-machine pay rate, like half?
Having the summer off or slow sounds nice to me! And I too want to (when I'm certified) branch into broadcast captioning. It would be very awesome to do that from my home office!
Thanks again for taking time to answer my questions! Look forward to "talking" with you again!
Oh, and thank you for the congrats on passing my 160 realtime. Slowly inching my way up to 225... hopefully sooner rather than later!
