"Whenever I do an IME, I always ask the firm to check with the attorney if it's okay for a male reporter (me) to do the job, just in case it's a female being examined.  I got sent out once when I didn't think to ask and it was a…"

Number formatting question

In argument, both the Court and counsel refer to a regulation Sec. 1.162-3.Most of the time, however, they just say "dash-three."  It's used that way throughout.  Many sentences begin that way.  What do I use?  It looks odd whatever way I do it.  -3 dash threedash-threedash-3See More

"Yes, that does help. I'm using Microsoft 44.100, 4 bits, 21 kB, but it's not as bright a sound as I've had in the past."

Trying to find a compression level for an ASUS laptop

I'm having trouble finding a compression level for recording on an ASUS Q400 laptop.  I've tried high rates and low rates and they all sound the same -- barely audible on playback.Any suggestions? Also, is there any other way to find a compression level other than this tedious trial-and-error method?  See More

"Also, too, Freddie, it would depend on how corrupted your hard drive is.  I did pay Best Buy the $100 for them to try and recover, but because it was so badly corrupted they couldn't, and did reimburse me my money."

"No.  I have a Stentura 8000 from 1994 and my disk drive went out in 2008, and even though I still use paper, when I had it serviced when the drive went out, the man adjusted the key stroke where it cuts off the bottom half of the letters and I…"
